Arizer Extreme Q

So just a few more comments about the Arizer Extreme-Q unit and vaping in general. I've now had my first table-top vape for a day and have yet to smoke anything :) Some things that I really like:
  • being able to experiment and dial in temperatures to target the vaporization of different groups of cannabinoids and terpenes for varying effects and tastes.
  • NO ASH IN THE HOUSE OR STALE SMOKE SMELL! :)
  • effects: I notice a very distinct difference in the nature and duration of high when vaping. The buzz is much more in the head, and feels much cleaner and clearer. It lasts longer, with no 'burn-out' after, and makes for a fantastic method of administration during the day
  • health: a vape session with my morning coffee is a HUGE improvement over my typical morning joint or bowl. My lungs and throat are already thanking me as I don't have the wheeziness/tightness/burning that persists when smoking all day.
  • aesthetics: The Extreme Q is a sleek, modern looking unit that looks great on display between sessions....no need to hide this one out of sight. For those that aren't familiar, here is what the unit looks like:

  • convenience and functionality: the unit is smaller, light, does not get hot to the touch, and is easy to move around the house as necessary. Without the concern of smoke, ash, and dust, I'm now able to medicate in my home office and recording studio, two areas that were previously strict no-smoking zones. Now, instead of having to stop what I am doing to take a break and medicate, I just reach for the whip or push a button on the remote to start filling a bag. The programmable auto-shutoff is also a huge bonus as I have yet to remember to turn it off after a session.
  • versatility: this is where the Extreme Q really shines IMO. The whip is great for during the day, I set my unit up next to my computer and can casually draw on the whip as I work. You have a couple of options with the whip, as you can fill the vortex bowl for a longer lasting session, or you can pack the screen in the glass elbow joint for a smaller session and super dense vapor. It's amazing how many hits you will get just from packing that little screen, I now see how vapes can really stretch out your stash. At night, in a group setting, or if you want to get really medicated, the bags work fantastic. With a nice slow fan setting to provide a nice dense vapor, one bag taken in a single sitting absolutely kicks my ass! :)
All in all, extremely happy with my purchase, and will highly recommend the Extreme Q for anyone looking for a quality versatile vape and not wanting to fork out the big bucks on a Volcano unit. Best $200 paraphernalia purchase that I've made to date, hands down.
Nice post Devil and good advise....I'm sure you informed a lot of folks who wondered how it all works. Enjoy your new unit.

I have come to quite enjoy vaping after all these years. Other than a single yearly joint I have with a m8 that I dont see often who only smokes, I never combust anything.

The taste is much better IMO with vaping over smoking. I dont miss smoking at all. Its so damn stinky!

Here's some more info for anyone interested in picking one up:

I have a feeling that there was recently a price drop on these, as they were previously $240+ and I am now seeing them on a couple of sites (Toronto Vape, Liftmj) for $199. My local head-shop owner was able to match the price, so I would definitely recommend asking if you are in the market for one.

The Vaporpedia site is a great one, here's a basic introduction to vaporizing for anyone that is new to the concept:

Devil stop abusing that thing...your gonna wear it out before the warranty is up. lol. Fark man my house is going dim every time you turn on you heater and blower. What are you gonna do next. Get in a big bag and just poke the whip into it. Am I gonna have to come and rescue you and take that thing away?

Have used Volcano full time for almost a year. The power switch got fussy so I panicked over having to send it to Germany for warranty repairs. So I bought an Extreme Q from Toronto Vaporizer and am VERY happy with it. I bought a lot of spare screen sets and I'm glad I did. When they gum up I swap it out and will batch clean them later.

For bags, Volcano is better. It IS nice to fill a bag and be able to move around while vaping it. My switch now seems fine, likely some gunk was in the switch and found it's way out. If it was beyond warranty I would just open it up and blow it out.

For the fan assisted whip, the Extreme Q gets 2 sticky thumbs up! The "glass on glass" vape does taste very clean. I had some dental work done, and the fan assist allows vaping without suction. Think of being sick or hospitalized, in many cases this forced air whip would be helpful.

The con of the Extreme Q is that for bags, you have to keep your finger over hose or it will leak out. I suppose Volcano owns patents on the valve system. My bags are still wrapped up, for emergency use I guess.

For $200, Check!

Assembled in Canada, Bazingah!

Great feedback OKLP, thanks! I've found a cheap, easy, and popular solution to the valve issue, you can buy rubber Camelback mouthpieces for $3 and easily attach them for a handy valve system. I'm going to grab some of these today:

For anyone wondering about the remote, it works GREAT for turning fan on/off. I plan to do some tweaking using an Arduino and hope to create a yellow button on my desk that sends it's own IR signal, and set it up to be push and hold to activate fan.

A smart phone with IR Blaster should work too, though I don't know how to "teach" the right codes to a smart phone.

Let us know. I wondered if those delivered enough flow. They would make yet another handi-accessible method of using it, in combo with fan.
It's a favorite method in the "Fuck Combustion" forum threads on the Extreme Q, and supposedly works amazing. I've owned Camelbaks, and they water really goes when you want it to, so I don't see there being any issues.

I just put a little cork in the end of the hose until I'm done bag 1. That way I can leave it on and when I get done with bag 1, round 2 is ready to go. But I do like the idea of that little gizmo above, will await reviews.

I ordered some from Ebay, I'll upload some pics when they get here :)

I did forget to mention another plus of the Extreme Q: the glass-on-glass connections. I've been seriously putting this thing through it's paces, and I've found myself using the bags a lot more as they tend to be a lot smoother and easier on the throat than the whip. I found that if I used the whip a lot (especially at higher temps), all that warm dry air irritated my throat and lungs during heavy use. Obviously not as much as smoking, but still not as smooth as the bags.

After doing a little reading, experimenting with different glass, and picking up a 14<18mm adapter, I found a perfect solution and a match made in heaven. Meet the new vapo-bubbler bongsmilie :

My little Cheech bubbler makes the perfect mouthpiece/water accessory for the Extreme Q. It's light, small, and not big enough to cause any drag.....quite the opposite actually, as you can really honk on the Extreme Q through this thing! With a good rip, loose material in the cyclone bowl gets drawn up into the elbow screen and essentially does an "elbow pack" on its own for super dense clouds. I've actually found that warm water works really well in the bubbler as it adds moisture to the vapour stream before being inhaled, making it super smooth and not as dry/irritating on the throat and lungs. I can now take huge long rips with nary a tickle :)
