Areas to Avoid if your Moving

Hey Everyone,

I'm considering moving to Denver/Boulder, CO area. We are currently looking at homes. I've talked to a few growers there and been told to avoid Broomfield and Westminster entirely due to strict laws, negative outlooks on legal MMJ growing as a caregiver.

I plan on moving and working a full time job and also being a caregiver (within legal limits of course)...what areas of town would you say are safe? What areas would you say to avoid entirely? These are very important questions to me....Thanks for any response!

PS -- How about Arvada, CO and Longmont, CO? Problems? I know Boulder county is supposed to be the best place to live for MMJ as far as safety of caregiving / growing goes..

Thoughts?

I am not trying to make enemies here so i will keep this short and sweet, Arvada is basically Westminster, very hand in hand as communities. Longmont when i was younger was known as a tweeker (meth) town, i do not know this personally just what the people i knew from there said. It is in Boulder county and that is def a plus, maybe look into some smaller towns in boulder county, Lyons, Layfette, Louisville, etc. They def are a little ways away from town, but worth the drive. Adams county isn't the greatest for laws, some exceptions, but pretty well against us. Weld County, the biggest county in the state, is one that is mostly against us too.

Thx for the reply bro. Much appreciated. Longmont was close to boulder still had nice views of mountains unlike broomfield which sucked. Plus longmont homes were cheap! I had another friend tell me he knew ppl who robbed homes in longmont tho and that worries the shit outta me. Boulder proper is too damn expensive for what we want (2500 sq ft home, 3 bed, 2 bath, unfinished basement (for me of course!). Thats why i was looking nearby. I heard golden and nederland were awesome on mmj but seems like a far drive from potential jobs So that may not work.


For arvada, co is jefferson county as a whole against mmj or just certain parts? What about denver county?

What do you know about littleton, co?

Superior is a small town just off the Boulder turnpike half way between Broomfield and Boulder.
Littleton is a large town when judged by square miles, and the neighborhoods run the whole range from very high end neighborhoods, to older lower income neighborhoods.
I would stay away from Arvada due to police/city officials opinions on MMJ.
Longmont is one of the more MMJ friendly towns, but is a long drive if you will be working in the Denver metro area.
Aurora has higher crime rates than most of the surrounding areas.
Colorado's unemployment rate is higher than the national rate(9.2%), and is still growing - I would be sure you have an acceptable job before coming to Colorado.
Golden has more of a small town feel with homes and condos in town, and older ranch/farm properties in the surrounding area.
Where you plan on working should be a major determining factor as to where you decide to live, as traffic can be very bad at times, and I doubt you want a two hour trip to work each day.

I've been considering moving to Colorado as well, tho not Denver. South, near Sangre de Cristo Mts. Alamosa-Colorado City-Trinidad area. but the unemployment rate is discouraging, I imagine it's higher than 9.2%. That statistic only shows people who are drawing unemployment. I haven't drawn unemployment the entire 6 years I've been unemployed. Self -employed people can't get unemployment as they don't pay it in.
We don't count. Pun intended.

I would recommend northern Aurora. You get a LOT of house for your dollar and most houses are new construction with new electric.

Littleton is another good option. Try to get as close as possible to 285/Kipling. Again, you get a lot for your dollar here and you are close to the mountains.

Lastly I would also check into the new subdivision out by Tower Road just north of Aurora. You can practically get a 5 year old mansion for $200k there. It's by the airport though.

You would also be buying low end tract homes in neighborhoods that are almost empty with unsold, and forclosed homes.

just fyi: Aurora is a horrible choice.
There is a list that I don't care to share, but it lists the most anti-MMJ cities in Colorado from 1 to 100. Guess who is number 1? Aurora. Number 2? Broomfield.
Go for it.

If you're going to move to CO I would suggest living in the mountains west of Boulder/Denver... you aren't going to get messed with if you don't have neighbors to get all up in your shit.

Hi first post here, hi everyone. Just to let you know, The Grand Junction area is pretty much dispensary free. The righteous decided that if the pot shops went away the pot would too (silly people, now you made it easier for the criminals, no more regulations), so in the last voting ballet, the pot shops were closed down when the votes came. The last one in Palisade is hanging in there, to the point where they are doing volunteer work to show the community they are good people. Hopefully they will stay. If we have no more shops, that means no more clones and your buying pricey seeds online unless you know a caretaker out in this area. So if you want to move to Grand Junction, just be aware of what's going on. Nice place to live though, not too crowed, decent housing prices, and good schools for those of you that have kiddos.

I live in one of the cities you mentioned, its beautiful, but a little sideways. If you move to the San Luis Valley there are actually jobs to be had, but lots of people here are lazy so that makes the Unnemployment worse than it actually is. I would prefer to live in Pagosa Springs, the people aren't so pompous, living is reasonable, and evrybody burns!lol
