In terms of lumens, which is fine cause these are identical spectrums, here's the comparison.

The current RW150 uses 36x XTE R5 @ 750mA and 36x XPE1 P3 @ 650mA.

36 x 3.22v x 750mA = 86.94w @ 124 lumens per watt = 10780.5 white lumens.
36 x 2.265v x 650mA = 53w @ 88.55 lumens per watt = 4693 red lumens.
Total = 15473 lumens from 140w to the LEDs.

The upgraded version would be as follows:

36 x 3.2v x 700mA = 80.64w @ 159.8 lumens per watt = 12886.3 white lumens
36 x 2.44v x 700mA = 61.49w @ 90.8 lumens per watt = 5583.3 red lumens
Total = 18469.6 lumens from 142w to the LEDs.

It's about an 18.5% increase in efficiency.

Can you speculate on how much that upgrade would cost with the drivers and LEDs? I'd like to see some umole numbers if you decide to test it out.

Hell, even if it's only in guesstimation terms of 2/3 the cost of a new light altogether, or something like that - what WOULD the upgrade kits go for? I know @Eraserhead would be hesitant to put something out here in a dollar figure without working it all the way through the cost analysis process and getting out of hypothetical terms. People will whine about the difference in his guess and reality too much.

INTL seems to have XPG2 S4 cool whites and S3 neutral whites, but not in production quantities I imagine as GUOD pointed out. Maybe Jeff can get them from Jerry etc.

Cutter has S4 5500K (blueish/greenish tint 2C), S3 5200K (3A tint, not greenish) and S2 3900K (no tint 5C1)

Another thing that comes into play, cool whites emit less photons/W than the neutral whites and since the neutrals have more reds photons, it may increase photosynthetic efficiency of the spectrum.

All at 700mA Tj 50C, "typical" numbers used, (retail prices, I am sure this comparison changes ALOT using wholesale pricing):

XTE S4 2C 5500K = 147lm/W = $2.50? ea = $2.42/PAR W
XPG2 S3 3A 5200K = 153lm/W = $3.07 ea = $3.31/PAR W
XML2 U2 4C 3900K = 163lm/W = $4.35 ea = $4.5/PAR W
XPL V6 3C 4900K = 179lm/W = $5 ea = $4.36/PAR W

@ 2.1A Tj 50C "typical"
Vero29 V2.0 5000K = 139lm/W = $28 ea = $0.87/PAR W

So all that in consideration, compared to the Vero 29, the Cree top bins above are expensive and probably in limited supply. That is where the new CXB3590 bins would compete

Tj 50C "typical"
CXB3590 3500K CD @ 700mA (23W) = 207lm/W = $47.50 ea = $3.25/PAR W
CXA3590 5000K DB @ 350mA (24W) = 209lm/W = 35.50 ea = $2.31/PAR W

When I posted here before I had 3 SGS-160's. I now have 4 SGS-160's and 1 Apache Tech AT200. I am considering doing 2/ 2x4's or 1 4x4 tents with this . Thinking that the Apache could be in the middle in a 4x4. I do wonder if the upgrades will apply to the SGS-160's? And if so how much will that difference be? Any pros and cons to those ideas are welcome. As well as over looked ideas.

hehe, I have been waiting for the 2015 light since March or May, when it was supposedly out. But I think everybody prefers that they be sure about the light coming out, instead of simply spitting one out to keep up with their deadline and make the most of their hot moment. I have one SGS, but since I am in a zone that no longer can receive A51 products, which excludes my from getting new products and update packs, can any of you recommend me some supplemental side lights? I would like to add some extra power to my small space. I realize this may not be the place to ask, but I feel you are the ones in the know. Thanks! :)

I emailed area51 about the new units. They said it would be a few more weeks until the new units were out. I just ordered my first rw150 anyway. First led light from this comp, second led light.

They've been saying a new light was coming out since April. I think I'm gonna go with with an Optic. I'm glad to see the competition is heating up and there's more than just one rodeo in town now.

PS: I know the fanboys are going to bash me. :)
