Are you addicted to marijuana?

First define the term addiction. Addiction is a negative connotation because the majority of society associates it with heroin, crank, etc. Cannabis is addictive in the sense that any pleasureable activity is worth repeating. I drink pop almost everyday as well and many people regularly consume caffine without so much as a second thought. How often do you rub one out in the shower? It is in the human nature to partake in activities which alter the conscience in any manner be it sex or exercise, the distinction lies with societies idea of what is appropriate. Personally I hate the concept of any entity trying to force me to conform to their ideals of any sort. I feel intense frustration when I am forced to do this on account of someone else. Responsibility is another matter that can only be addressed personally. I am not a man of wealth and I have to allocate my money as such. I love weed, but I love not getting evicted a lot more. Until I get my next paycheck I have to use all my money for food, rent and bus fare, but this is my life. When I get paid and have extra money, the first thing I'll do is pick up an eigth of some grade A bud. I have zero intention of quitting Cannabis for life, that is plain stupid. A crack addict on the other hand would probably spend his last bottom dollar to get his next fix. Individuals in the depths of serious addiction would have difficulty maintaining other priorities. Cannabis is a wonderful plant and allows me to view life from a different angle. If you have the self restraint to make sure you meet your responsibilites and obligations first, what does it even matter?

Wonderful post!

Nah, I love pot as much as the next guy, pretty much my whole family smokes it(dad, mother, 2 sisters, brother in law) so I've been around it forever. It may suck but I've gone well over 5 weeks w/out smoking it. I wanted to take a break to lower my tolerance levels.

I crave it, but I also crave Pizza every day, so....

Well although there are effects that are really present for me like lack of appetite, hard to sleep, anxious, I don't think weed is addictive. Your brain is gonna wanna smoke and your most likely gonna feel bored, but nothing you can't change if you set your mind to it. I've stopped for 1 year periods twice since I started toking and to be honest, it doesn't become harder after the first week so if you can make it there, you can make it all the way.
you'd have to be an idiot to get addicted to anything . . . . .
that's a pretty ignorant statement. any logical person knows that addiction is not something most people see coming until they're locked into it.

you're an idiot to not try to break your addiction, not just for getting addicted.

as far as weed and addiction, it's equal or less addicting than coffee. I personally feel withdrawals from it when I quit. however my consistent daily use accounts for that. I feel I've had worse coffee withdrawals in the past.

though since weed is such an amazing mood stabilizer, it's harder to be stable without it.

Addiction is not just black and white....theoretically, any person could become addicted to anything....you could become addicted to food, exercise, sex, mineral water etc.......and we all know the difference between a mental addiction and physical addiction, I myself wouldn't consider myself addicted to marijuana, but rather I like it so much that I smoke it often, and it has simply become a large part of my life w/growing and everything....so people can become addicted to weed, but its irrelevant. cuz anything can be addictive.

By being addictive do you mean you'll always love the herb no matter how many haters talk shit, then yes I am completely and totally addicted. As for not being able to physically stop, then hell no. I've been clean for about a month now while I've been looking for a job and while I think its complete bullshit, I'll bend a little bit. Last weekend I was with my smoking boys and had to sit out rotation and it sucked. I still rolled the j's because I just love everything about it still. Bottom line is that I have enough self control to pass up smoking the finest green with my favorite boys. My ultimate reason behind quitting is so that I can find a job to make money to smoke again and to fund my smoking projects, haha. Anyways, how would you define interfering with relationships, school, etc? Would you consider the legal ramifications the only measure of the interference? Drug testing would be a red herring argument because in no way is that based upon performance as it relates to using herb, especially RANDOM testing. Drug testing itself only tests for pot mainly anyways. Heroin and Cocain only stay in the system for about 48-72 hours, while obviously ganja can take a month or more. I'm broke and can barely afford cigarettes, now that is fucking addictive. I can barely make a day without smoking those.

trust me bro I'm not full of shit. I feel real withdrawal symptoms from weed. it may not happen to everyone but it certainly happened to me.

and to those who it hasn't happened to you haven't the right to say it doesn't happen to anyone. it's just like getting addicted to coffee, some people do, some people don't. it's nothing major, it's just a minor inconvenience.

no addiction to weed here:) been smoking a long time but i don't smoke everyday and i don't crave it. unlike my nicotine addiction which feels like the equivalence of a cocaine addiction. i get crazy if i go more than an hour with out a cigarette:( i wish i could put down the smokes as easy as i do the weed. :peace:

I've heard of people using a QP to quit cigg's . . . roll yourself a shitload of joints haha.

but really bro it's like you have an anti-cancer (weed) and a cancer-generator (ciggs) so it's your decision if that slight rush you get from nicotine is worth the polonium-210 radiation.

I've tried to quit and experianced loss of sleep, and also loss of weight.. About 10 pounds in 3-4 days. I figure I'll just keep smoking. It gets better, and is definatly easier if you can't get anything (in another state or something) I wouldn't of went without smoking if I was in my own town.. To easy to get buds.

my withdrawal is similar I suppose, its basically like I consumed a ton of coffee and its hitting me hard but like I'm dragging at the same time. and I also experience sensitivity to temperature change, as well as sweats.

this only happens for the first 2 days, after that its smooth sailing.
