Are my injuries valid for a MMJ card?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums and have a couple questions regarding MMJ card in R.I.

I am not curently living in R.I., but plan on moving there in the future. I am in my mid 30's and have been suffereing from a few injuries I had when I was younger. The only problem is that my insurance coverage has been spotty at best, since most of my work is contractual, I haven't had any benefits in many of my jobs.

I have a knee injury about 10 years old now and its been giving me serious pain for the past 5 years or so. I fell down a small cliff and landed on my knee on a sharp rock. When this happened I didn't have insurance so I didn't go to the doctor and self medicated. I ended up with a nasty 3" scar right across my knee cap.

I also broke my middle toe about 5 years ago on the same leg, again no insurance, and it also didn't heel right and now I have a large growth of calcium that has built up around my toe causing serious pain when I walk.

As of right now, I don't have good medical records, except the x-ray at the walk in clinic on my toe I had done, because I had thought it was cancer.

I did suffer from astma when I was younger, but I haven't tried to dig up those records yet.

I have reecently found that MJ actually helps, especially with walking pains.

I have looked over the MMJ R.I. bill and am uncertain if I qualify.

thanks.

Yes, you just need a doctor that will take your word for it, as well as be comfortable to recommend medical marijuana. You qualify under the severe/debilitation chronic pain. Give your doctor as much proof as possible. You're not exactly young, just looking for marijuana, so you do have that going for you. Don't think you'll have a problem at all with a level headed doctor.

ok. Like I said, all I have right now for those injuries is the xray and the big scar over my knee. I also suffer from constant migrane headaches, but again no real proof, except that its probably genetics, since my mother and sister suffer the same from it. Thanks for the responses. I contacted 11th state cosultations, but although I suffer from pain, I don't feel like I am a serious candidate under R.I. law. Time will tell. thanks

I wish i could emigrate! I have an artificial hip in my right leg, held on with 3 screw that are attached to a metal rod running through my thigh which is held together with 2 screws just above my knee. My other leg has two metal plates and 10 screws holding it together. I also have a permanently dislocated shoulder, one hand that only half works and have spent time in hospital with kidney disease caused by excessive use of codeine. Still, I can't legally smoke or grow my own. That's the UK for you.
P.s. My injuries were caused by a police officer who was 'apparently' on his way home from work and was never breath tested, although his shift finished 2 hours before the crash and he only lived 4 miles from his station. He got 3 points on his licence and a £100 fine. I was in intensive care for 3 weeks and in hospital for 4 months.
Sorry to stress but I have spent so much money over the years self-medicating, but I am the one who is breaking the law?.
Now, I am about to do another grow. If I get caught and end up in prison, am I the real criminal?

ouch, that sounds horrible. Reminds me of a news story I just saw this morning. A lady was walking her dog and was shot by a off duty officer. He was hunting and mistook her dog for a deer. She was the one that got hit with the bullet though. He wasn't charged or even arrested, not even repramanded at work, or a suspended hunting license. if it was any regular citizen, they would be held for questioning for hours and maybe even charged or atleast lose they're hunting license. They should make the officer atleast have his eyes checked or a drug & alcohol test.

u qualify under RI laws , did u look at www.ripatients.org ?
Yes, I did. But was still uncertain. Compared to other MMJ patients, my injuries didn't seem to be all that bad. i mean, I'm not on several different meds and am not in a wheelchair or going through chemo. I just can't walk without pain from my injuries. I have also heard it is hard to get into the program in R.I.. I just need to find the right compasionate doctor. But my options are slim, because I have no insurance and very little money to spend on different doctors intill I find one who understands. I also believe that the lack of medical records hurts my chances.

weedasaurus, you definitely qualify. As long as you don't find a quack or somebody that is just morally against medical marijuana they will recommend it. Find a good doctor, maybe one that has a holistic philosophy on medicine.

The only way to really find out is to give them a call. If you have the what you may need they will schedule a consult for you. Good Luck
