Are led lights worth it?

I've done 2 projects so far with 600w hps is a great light undoubtably it gives what the plants crave however both projects hermed and start to develop seeds: ( I've never used Leds before but do they make a big difference?

The big difference is energy efficiency, heat/lumens, size/weight, and quieter IME. I think many modern genetics tend to herm I don’t see a difference due to light.

If you can control the heat and you don't mind higher power costs.........there is nothing wrong with HPS.
When you say the plants hermed..........do you mean nanners at the end of flowering.

Hps lights are cheap to buy extremely expensive to run it's everything a marijuana plant needs however the amount of heat the 600hps light creates is insane especially in the summer during a heatwave I found the hps lights are much harder to control environment

Nah midway through bloom was very disappointing seeds everywhere all that time wasted : /

the one cavate to this I would say is the bulb replacement cost and impact on land fills. They are not cheap and I would replace them each grow if I was doing it again.

I think given your two threads so far.
It would be a good idea to explain your set up , including
what fan you originally bought?
Where your extraction is going to
How big your space is ect
What temps you were hitting

Because the solution might not be a new light or a new fan.
Might just be set up badly or venting into a small space

I'm going to say welcome and LED by far are worth it oh yeah from an old timer the learning curve is something to watch out for but and I will say again it is worth it

I think there should be some kind of chart or regional map that is zoned out to help you decide whether or not HID or LED would be the most efficient type of lighting to choose..

Okay I'm using a bay6 XL 1.2 .1.2 2.0 m grow tent

The room it is growing in is 14 feet in length and 9.5 feet in width has a window and a door

I was using a mammoth twin speed budget extractor fan and white rhino carbon filter very cheap it was an hang inside the top of the tent method couldn't extract outside due to security reasons so it was extracting inside the room hoping that the stale air just runs out the room door this year im hoping to stealthly extract outside the small window

I was using a 600w hps I had no intake air going through to the tent just a few circulating fans the heat was unbearable for me to be even in the room
So as you can see quite a few errors here maybe that's why they hermed

Yeah, the biggest issue is Recirculating that air in the room which gets hotter each pass through the tent.

If heats your biggest issue, I'd consider switching to a 450-500w LED , rather than a watt for watt swap .
You will still out yield the 600w hps .

You can actually get a 720w LED that you can use that 600w ballast , and they are fairly cheap.
That way you can run it 75% (of 600) and in winter you can bump it to 600w or boost it to 720w.

Doesn't matter what air exchange you've got going on if its just recycling..

But you could add duct to the door if you can't box the window off and stealth a vent that way.

One other benefit with the LED is the plants will enjoy mid 80s F and there's a lack of radiant heat

I'm trying to get the infinity 3.0 600w or the lumatekzeaus pro 600w LEDs I'm going to find a way to extract outside the small window and this time I'm definitely having a intake fan because apparently it's a crucial aspect of air exchange and co2 and I think they will definitely benefit from this

Have you looked at these line if not take a look in my opinion I'd put it up against the hps my 2 cents

Looks decent what's it like to manage? Do they get hot? Is controlling your environment easier?

I have a similar sized tent, maybe a little taller, and maybe twice the size "lung room" and I run 2, 200 watt LEDs and heat is way manageable, maybe even on the cold side, but I am below grade in Minnesota so I'm sure that helps.

I've ran about 3 flower runs now and so far once I got over my fear of burning up my buds the light is a game changer and it is very easy to manage I put a fan on the top of the light and I can take it all the way up to the top of my tent about five inches away I have no issues and I have the AC Infinity and its environment system which is very nice

Oh and one more thing my Harvest with three plans was 500 plus grams so there's that and that was after a spider mite attack on the plans my fuckup

I've got the infinity Pro 3.0, it's a nice light, actually slightly better than the lumatek and cheaper.
Infinity also do a cheaper version which puts out more light but is 720w and uses any 600w dimmable hps ballast.

An intake won't make any difference, its just extra wattage. Unless your running at least an 8x8ft with 2400w passive intake is fine.

Get that window vent sorted and you'll see a big drop in temp and humidity plus Recirculating just drops your co2.. most rooms have plenty of air gaps,but that extraction is vital

So leds are greatly more easier for managing the environment than the grizzly hps?
