LED tech has vastly outpaced commercial manufacturers. Even the last 6 months has been a mind blower for better Q diodes, drivers, adhesives...

You don't need actinic bulbs anymore. NW + WW will do the job equally, if not better, BECAUSE, they cover all the spectrums in between.

As to one light fits all, only if you have some of the diodes on a switchable circuit. You might want say ~ 10% more NW during veg than for flower

Im personally more than happy to veg my scrogs out under a 6400k then switch over to a flowering LED(s) with the 6400k as supp.

So what are you saying PetFlora? don't bother with any of the LEDs.. just a few CFL?

He's saying that using Warm White and Neutral White LED's instead of Red and Blue is better because they are broad spectrum.

Looks like I get to go read some more.....lol

I just ask which of the two they thought was better. in the end, I just had to make the order and quit worrying about what is or could be best. if Im not happy, Ill buy something else down the road.

i mean i have a 5x5 tent with a 4x4 core, id like to say that 2 10's would get it done however maybe i would have to go to 2x 12's, not rly sure... Dawg says I should go 4 x 8's but that I dunno might be a little crazy, I wish I could hear from some of the people that have them actually in hand to hear what they say = /

Pretty much no matter what light source you use you'll want ~40W/ft^2 to flower. Really rough estimate, but work that out and see where you're at.

Well I got a quote from SanLing!

The prices are
2x Apollo 8 ---- 2 x $228 = $456

2x Apollo 10 ---- 2 x $279 = $558
2x Apollo 12 ---- 2 x $328 = $656
The prices does not include the shipping cost

Also I received a large excel sheet showing me certain coverages of the newer lights and I was impressed however I do not know if I am allowed or should put it up fearing ppl would just edit to discredit or whatever. But from 19.8" above canopy the Apollo 12 offers 26,600 Lux with just over a 4x4 square coverage with 120 degree lenses, Par Value @ 1284. Would be thinking of 2 of these for a 5x5...thoughts? or questions?

the prob with the 12 is its long and not square. not sure how anyone claims a 4x4 or 5x5 or whatever with a long rectangular light. a couple smaller ones making a square is a better bet if you don't have a light mover.

shipping must be around $120.

Id like to see the excel sheet. I have jpegs of all the info myself. but Id like to see any differences.

Here I did two conversions to be save so nothing could be changed, let me know if I am reading this correctly.....notice the large difference in some area for the 12 and the 10. Further away the 12 trumps then closer the 10 kills, kind of interesting.....Also remember I would be getting 2 of whatever I buy, so light needs only to cover 3 feet sideways. XD

Hey Guys I joined the forum because of this thread. I like what I am seeing from these Apollo lights and the customization that seems to be available at a great price. I think I am close to getting a quote and placing an order.

Here are my questions. I grow in a 3x3 secret jardin tent using pll fluorescents now. I am more concerned with quality over quantity and I can't go hid because of heat issues.

Do you think for this size tent I would be best to get an Apollo 8 or Apollo 10? Then the last question is on the led diodes. I have been reading a lot and learning a ton about the different leds available but could someone recommend a good ratio of lights for flowering? I am also thinking about 120 degree lenses or should I include some 90 as well?

I'll be honest after researching for about a week I think I am more confused then ever on what LEDs I should have them include.
thanks a ton for the help.

you sound like me when I joined.. nearly exactly to the word. lol

no tent but a 3x3 closet scrog under Apollo8s. I would go with 2x apollo8s in your case and the spectrum I went with was:
1 730
6 660

4 630

1 460

1 435

1 2700k

1 12k

but this might be good as well:
7 660
4 630
1 460
1 440
2 2700k

you will not find the perfect spectrum YET cuz its still under debate and the LEDs are improving nearly daily right now.
I also supplement with a 200W 6400K CFL
