Anyone wanna tell me their experience with Vanilla Kush?

Been thinking about buying some Barney's VK seeds, and would like to hear people's experiences growin' it. Already searched a thread or two on here on it before I registered, but still wanna hear a bit more.

I'm mainly wondering how much people yielded on average per plant they grew of VK, and the quality of it. I know it varies from person to person on how well you treat the plants and a lot of other variables, but I'm just looking for individual experiences. I realize my results will differ.

Mine yielded above average for my small setup. As to the quality, I would say a solid 8. The smell was different from anything I have ever grown. It didn't have a very pungent weedy sort of smell. It was more like some sort of exotic spice, not vanilla though. The buds were very dense. The smoke was very thick and expansive. I really enjoyed it.

i grew vk and was absolutely blown away by yield. it will come down to veg time and grow style but i veg'd for 4 weeks in a 3 foot x 1.5 foot space and got around 10oz in dwc with scrog.

bag appeal was through the roof. rock hard buds, light green in colour with real nice orange hairs that just looked delicious.

smell during the grow was minimal but the dried buds reeked. honestly having a gram in my pocket was enough to get looks from my mates. mine was a very different smell hard to put your finger on but it did have a nice vanilla aftertaste. it was funny to see people smoke it. if you don't tell them its vk then let them smoke it then tell them it is vanilla kush they go "ahhh yeah thats what i was tasting".

the smoke for me wasn't really my cup of tea as it was quite a heavy indica stone that put me on the couch. it was a fast worker though. i only smoke joints but straight away from the first inhale you feel it, like someone just put a warm blanket over your head then it travels down your body and into your limbs. wasn't the strongest indica i have had but very nice none the less.

let me just finish by saying this. 6 strains later and i have just started another vk i havnt been able to beat it yet.

I can only give a partial response as I am in week 6 with 2 VK's along with some Dinafem and DNA gear in soil under 1000W. By far the weakest looking gals are the VK's, nowhere near as frosty as the others. Both VK plants alike, if I had to call it now I wouldn't be running this one again. The Dinafem Critical + is the killer of the bunch so far, haven't had a bad Dinafem run yet.

i reckon you might be pleasantly surprised by the vk. mine didnt have a lot of frost either but was still good quality smoke. keep us updated

Best thing about this strain I've noticed is that IF grown properly and not over-ferted, you can barely smell her unless you get up right close.. even in the last few weeks of flowering when resin gets packed on.

So if you've got a stealth cabinet then this could be an awesome addition to your garden.Main gripe with the strain is the long-ass flowering time and they seem to be ALOT more susceptible to mite damaged unless addressed early. Neem oil works best for me.

its interesting you say long ass flowering time? my first one showed fulll flower set within 7 days of 12/12 and was finished in 9 weeks which is pretty good imo.

im growing another one now this one seems to be a very different pheno to my first on though. much taller with much less branching. really big fan leaves. still the nice lime green colour with very purple stem though. shes a real beauty. she has already shown sex and will be getting flipped soon but to be honest i have real high hopes for this girl i feel she is going to be an even heavier producer than my first one. fingers crossed.

i totally agree with not much smell in the flower period though. did your cured buds absolutely reek though like mine did?

heres a shot of my current vk

I have a VK in a 4x4 SCRoG and it looks bad compared to the rest. I used some voodoo juice to help the roots out and it's come a long way but still the weaker of the 4 strains.

The smoke reports are good to hear.

Did two Vanilla Kush's in my SCROG last crop. Yield was average. The smoke is good. Wasn't that impressed.
Have only one flowering out this time..:weed: Then I'm done with that strain and moving onto the next strain...

much simpler than hydro? hempy is hydro
Well, if you're going to nitpick my statement, you could at least explain what you mean for the OP. I'm not looking to argue, just trying to help.

Anyway, yes, it is a form of passive hydro and it is very simple and the results are great. I recommend it combined with the Lucas formula for a very beginner friendly setup.

I've grown VK for three years outdoors. About 20 plants each year. It's been different each year. The first year I had three different phenotypes. Very different plants. Bleeding edge genetics. It was the growing season after they won the HTCC. Second year several plants had something resembling "tobacco mosaic virus". This year they have stabilized the strain. I started 30 seeds and I have 24 robust plants. It's a medium yielding plant. The smell is wonderful, with hints of vanilla and ginger and cinnamon and citrus. The aroma sells the weed, I don't think I have smelled better. However, the high is great too. Energetic, with mental clarity, yet you're really stoned. colors are brighter. People really love this weed. I'm getting about a half a pound per plant. I am limited as to how big I can allow them to get due to some strategic venue considerations.

Wow thats really different to my experience when I grew it. That said in growing it again now and this porno is quite different. Looks better in my opinion. Smells better too. Hope I get some more energetic high. My last lot was real couchlock. You felt it in your temples then your whole body went numb and you would get couchlocked.

i've grown it in dirt and hydro. i like the dirt much better. the smell is so unique, and the smoke almost has creamy quality. the hydro didn't compare for me. experienced a couple pheno's too. i still have some from a dirt grow in 2010 and only break it out on special occasions. that particular pheno in dirt is the best i've smoked.
