Anyone use lime?

Just wondering if it works right away, i think i read somewhere that it has to cure 24 to 48 hours.

Use lime for what?

to raise the ph.

if you mix it with the soil before you plant then you have to let it sit for awhile. not sure how long but I thought it was like a month. if you add it to water and water your plant with it, I think it works that way but not as fast of a reasult as your probably looking for.

Ive used lime on dry weed to put some moisture back in the buds, works great and leaves a small hint of lime in every puff. Ive never heard of lime for raising ph? I know there is such thing as ph up and ph down, and could probably picked up at your closet hydroponic store etc.

Dude I am not trying to be a dick but in another thread you said you are on your first grow. You should leave the advice to people with experience.

lime does not rally raise the ph...garden lime mixed in with soil will keep the ph neutral around 7.0 so it does not fluctuate too high or low.

Thats funny you say that cuz I just read on 3 different web sites that lime raises ph.

i was on my first grow, it's more like number two now, i am new to growing in soil. I have been growing in hydro for a couple of years. there is a big difference between the two soil and hydro.

yea I'm very familiar with lime, I amend all of my outdoor holes with it in the spring. It "sweetens" the soil, it helps with soils with low ph, in acidic soils like around spruce or pine trees. It does raise ph. Lime takes about a year to work though, so the lime I put in the ground this spring will make the soil awesome for the following year.

hmm i have always thought it kept the ph of the soil neutral.

well i would imagine there is different types of lime, i bought mine from a hydro store, so i am going to assume it must be fast acting.

Corso312 i think you are right, but keeping the soil neutral is better then having a ph of 5.2

i use dolo lime cuz my tapwater is acid. it works fast as a drench. mixed with water at 1tblsp/gal.

I am on my first grow and I usually tell people that all the time. the reason I answered this question is because I had PH problem with my dirt and I had to add lime to it to higher the PH. so when I answered this question I was using what little knowledge I had from my own experience. and I have to say the when I mixed the lime with the water and watered my plant. it worked and the plant got better.
