Horse Manure (0.7-0.3-0.6) - is richer in nitrogen than cattle or swine manure, so it is a "hot" manure. A common source of horse manure is rural stables, where owners usually bed the beasts very well. Horse manures sourced from stables, therefore, may also contain large amounts of other organic matter such as wood shavings or straw with manure mixed in. Some sources of mushroom compost contain large quantities of horse manure and bedding in their mix. So from one standpoint, horseshit's use in herb growing is already fairly well documented. Horseshit, because it is hot, should be composted along with other manures and higher carbon materials. Unfortunately, horse crap also contains a higher number of weed seeds than other comparable manure fertilizers.

Be careful with the PH, make sure it is composted well to avoid burning your garden and watch for overwater extra perlite maybe needed as manure retains a lot of water. If you are going to make teas with it be careful that it is well composted for some of the reasons stated already plus the potential for negative microbes in fresh manure.

Works great as long as it's not too fresh. Aside from myself, I know a ton of people who use horse manure all with great results.

Horse manure is good. Use it up, just make sure it's old and not fresh.

Don't have to worry too much about stray weed seeds...most foreign seeds are killed by enzymatic digestive processes in the guts of the stomach.

On a side note, I have been an organic farmer and ranch hand/horse trainer for the better part of 8 years now:)

I have never used horse manure I do use cow. I was told you have to watch out if it is not composted at a X temp or above that seeds will prosper. We have alot of people offering free horse manure (I live in Az lots of horses around here just looking to get rid of it) and pass it up for that reason.

You say you have no problems or is that after composting?

I have only used horse manure for my veg and flowering and it has turned out great every time. I garrentee if I added a lil bat guana for flowering it would flourish even more but if you want to just stick with horse manure for the entirety of her life it will do just fine.

I love the smell. Mb I'm crazy. It's just a nice, sweet , natural smell. I had a dog that ate it like it was cake. Lots of it. The vet said it was ok. But for plants...it's got to be composted first.

Once composted just add some water some horse poo non-sulfar mollases and a air stone. If it starts to smell it is dying add more mollases or throw it out. If you have not composted be extra careful it will be especially hot due to the on going break down of the organic material.

I use cow and horse manure in my grows and for the many variety of other plants and fruit trees I have growing on the farm. In a simple word for horse manure "awesome". Yes to composting manure and yes to using green also. I say that but there is definitely a learning curve involved in using it. I gather fresh manure along the road in my small village when the farmers move them from one pasture to another and use some of it almost immediately. Fresh is good for teas, you must practice this though on other plants to findout what the reaction is and what amount of the tea you can use. I also place piles on a piece of plastic in the sun until throughly dry and crumble up and place into each container. Of course it also goes into the compost piles I have around the farm and it makes great mulch dried and sprinkled on top of your soil in their containers.
I might add that I have lived on farms, raised veggies commercially and grown nursery plants all of my life and killed many plants learning. I also have grown some great MJ plants and other types using these methods, just comes down to practice makes perfect. To show what you can do if your manure is composted completely you can grow tomatoes in straight horse manure compost they love it, never tried the girls in this though.
Good Luck
