Getting ready to transition to a new room setup and trying to decide which 1000 watt de I should run. I was thinking of the Phantom 1000s or the new eye hortilux, but can’t seem to find much info on the hortilux. Like with first year cars, i hate to buy something problematic. 12x12 room, 24k btu ac. Currently run sun system 8” AC de light and love it but I don’t really need the Air cooled and would like a bigger footprint.

I haven't checked out the specs for the DE but I have many in 400, 600 and 1000W single ended types and have loved them for almost 20 years. Never had one die and still use a 400W MH conversion bulb that was one of the first I got and must have 8 years of continuous use on it by now. Plants still veg great under it.

Pretty sure you'd be happy with the Horts.

The hortilux bulbs are good but I like the Philips DE's better.

I have a Philips 400W CMH and wish they still made them and in other wattages.

Leaning toward the hortilux 1000 de vs, comes with reflector ballast and bulb, but I guess since I need a few fixtures maybe I’ll get 2 of each and see how it goes

I have Phantom Commercial and Sun System 1kW DE's and I haven't had a problem with them.

I was looking just now and they have a newer version than mine, looks pretty slick if you don't mind the ballast being up with the reflector.

I still cotton to Gravita. Probably helps that I can get them in Denver for $270 of the dock.

I do use Hortilux bulbs, they are my favorite

runnin 1000w mh de Luxx light in a 5x5 tent with an 6” inline exhaust, 2 6” clips fans and a 16” fan on the ground and still am having minor high temp issues, how would u control the climate with a double ended bulb that isnt air cooled?
what is your temps exactly? perhaps you can raise your humidity a little? just gotta follow vpd chart and you'll be ok. or get an air cooled hood for your DE or 8" exhaust. although I see there is a debate about how air cooled hoods affects DE equipment it appears. seems odd but I havent looked into it much. I run 1000w hps air cooled in my 4x4x7 same exhaust as you and I can keep it within 5 degrees of room temp with variac set at 100v.

your 5x5 is 50% larger (cubic feet) than my 4x4. maybe consider upgrading to 8" exhaust also

at 1000w it reaches up to 95, i run it at 63% for now and its in the low 80s. i got a humidifier and a small ac unit on the way, hopefully thatll keep me in range of high 70s at 1000w. my humidity has been on the lower side too, so hopefully that works. thanks for the help!

You'll have all the right tools soon, just gotta tinker with it until you get the result you want. Good luck, have fun!
