You can buy a powder form of that which is much more economical. You can also use muriatic acid that is dirt cheap at Home Depot. Some people swear by it. I was desperate for something quick so I bought the muriatic acid and switched to the powder form of the GH down once it arrived.

Yes! Dont use GH anything if your in organic, use nothing. If your not using organic then use it or your nutes will never be available for your plants.

DONT PUT --MURIATIC ACID-- IN YOUR SOIL!

When using Muriatic, Hydrochloric acid, it's always add acid to water not water to acid. Adding water to acid gives you a hot frying pan effect of spitting acid.

GH up and down are crap... use Advanced Nutrients PH up and down... I would use bottles of GH stuff now I use only drops of AN stuff and it works great.

How are they crap?? I used both the only difference is Advanced Ph up is stronger, thats really about it and the difference is made up in price.. Both are good products I stuck with GH PH Up just because I used it so long I know exactly how much to put in my hydro reservoirs. Other than Advanced being stronger it does the same shit.

i agree with BeaverHuntr..i only use a couple drops of GH up/down in my rez..it also depends on what kind of water your using..i used waay more than a few drops with my well water, but now only like 2 drops now that i'm using R/O water.

Exactly. I was using a bottle month of GH and at 2 dollars more per bottle my AN has lasted 6 months. If you can't do basic math probably shouldn't open your mouth?!

Here we go, because you werent satisfied with PH down it's now considered crap? Oh and I cant do basic math because I dont go though a whole bottle of 8 dollar PH down a month, you're just a typical newb grower that bash's any product that you dont like. GH's PH Up has been around for years and I'm sure some really successful growers here will tell you you are just plain stupid for saying its crap.

4ml of gh ph down and my ph will bring me down to 6.15 from 8 does this sound right. using tap water thou.Is it safe to use that much cause 5.8 would be 5ml or more. but then again after nutes my ph isnt as high but for plain watering thats as much ml as my base nutes

sodium hydroxide for pH up-also active ingredient in a lot of drain cleaners, used it for the sink couple times too.
Sulfuric acid for pH down. Spent around $25 for enough of each to last probably 2-3 years. 1tbsp of the sulfuric acid makes a gallon of pH down just as strong as GH stuff

I haven't used pH up or down in two years. My nutes, Humboldt Master A&B keep my res in the low 6s. Plus Humboldt says no worry from 5.5 to 7.0.

I think pH is less about what the plants want and more about what the nutes require for uptake.
