I recently purchased a Zen Lux 1000 watt grow kit off of ebay for $172. The other day when I went to use it for the first time and I had it plugged in correctly but after 15 minutes sparks started shooting out of it followed by smoke and then the lights went out. I contacted the seller about an exchange but I am wondering if this type of thing could be common with these ballasts. I could see that happening again only this time I'm not around and the house burns to the ground. Does anyone have any experience or has anyone heard anything about this company? I know it's Chinese so it isn't going to be the greatest. While money is a factor I certainly don't want to nickle and dime it when comes to these types of things.
