Anyone heard of The Big by BC Bud Depot? you may know it as Free Leonard

So apparently Canndoc Medical Labs and BC Bud Depot have stabilized Free Leonard and released it under the name The Big. I myself have a 9 week G13 X Butterscotch Hawaiian clone from one of swampy's associates. I have heard a lot of awesome things about swampy. I seen it in this months High Times Top Ten Strains of 2011, and although they mention Free Leonard, there was no mention of any connection to swampy (who has passed on). I've only flowered a few small test clones which were more than enough proof that I needed to put her clones into rotation, as I was worried they would take 10 weeks or longer this wasn't the case. I've seen HT list some straight BS on past top ten lists (Church), and although I believe what I have is stellar I'm curious as to if BC's released version is comparable, because descriptively in the article "blueberry bubblegum flavor and odor" is spot on to what I have. Anyone have experience with the big or free leonard?

Beware of BC Bud Depot. Notorious for sending wrong stuff, keeping your money but not sending seeds... Google them and find lots of complaints. I am among the complainers

I wouldn't order directly from BC Dud depot anyways...just wondering if Michiganders have heard, grown, sampled some of this fine herb called Free Leonard. I know he made another cross with a hash plant and there are 10 or 12 week variations although I have an 8-9 week cut. We have a few clone only strains here in Ohio called Dumpster and Lemon G, and at some point my plans were to try to cube these strains and offer them in seed form as well as my thoughts on the Free Leonard but they beat me to it. And Canndoc Med Labs who covered the genetic isolation and selection are licensed to develop meds for Israel, they must at least be more reputable than BC Bud Depot.

I had some Free Leonard a while back. I don't think the guy that grew it was a very good grower though. It lacked in taste and smell and the bud structure was sub-par.. So I can't give an honest opinion of it until I grow it out myself. I've heard so much good about it though I'd like to get a clone of it but then again I'm pretty anti-clones unless I can inspect the operation they are coming from to ensure I'm not bringing home any problems.

I just harvested a Free Leonard (Swampy's) yesterday and I've got two more scheduled to come down soon. Honestly I hate it when a breeder(s) jock off someone else's work and put knock offs out on the market, I think it's despicable but that's pretty much what a lot of so-called "breeders" do today.

Free Leonard is supposed to be a clone only strain and it is not supposed to be sold. FREE FREE FREE!!!

Yep, that's what they say. Mine was given to me free and I have no problem giving it out

It's not clone only though, there are seeds still out there that were given to compassion clubs and certain patients.

he released seeds and gave them for free. He (Swampy) even dedicated an outdoor crop to Leonard Peltier and the proceeds went to his legal aid. So at some point it was sold, but you're right the beans were given freely. I thought at least they could've mentioned Swampy or it's beginnings in Michigan. I mean I found in research people who said Free Leonard was so trippy that it caused hallucinations. I'll be damned if the same claim wasn't made right in the HT article.

Ohh there's beans? I thought it was a clone only for some reason. Definitely credit should be given where it is due. I have also read about it causing hallucinations. I'd like to try some that was actually grown by an experienced grower.

Just get a clone or some beans and give it a shot lol. They're not that easy to come by but there are some out there. I could hook you up with a clone sooner or later and a scope to look it over well, depending what area you're in also.

It would be one thing if they used his cut to make them (beans) but they didn't .
They made their own from the same genetics. (or close)
Don't see a problem with that. It's not like there is way for all the people who could benefit from the cross to get clones free/cheap, easy.
So now more people can have the genetics, Sure they pay , But this isn't cali. 75% of the clones around here are JUNK! Pop a bean sell clones. No one runs a few, Pheno hunts and then shares.


Personally as a mmmp i would rather take my chance on seeds at a price then the trouble of getting rid of the mites. (19/of/30 or so clones i have got have had mites)(from 10+ different places)
Now would i take a clone if offered? Of course.
Hopefully in 2-3 months i will have some C3-HB-OG seeds for the area. For free of course Was hoping to have them for the cup today/tmrw but that isnt possible :/

High Times did a small article in the same issue about Leonard Peltier which I was at least a little relieved to see. Mindless, you say they didn't use anything from Swampy...I'm glad to see the genetics worldwide available to growers everywhere but I hope certain quality standards are in place for a company that seems to be lacking in them. Maybe it's best that there is no direct reference to Swampy or it's beginnings in Michigan because their work could be average at best or disappointing and I wouldn't want association with that...however, although there are differing opinions as how good FL actually is, I do enjoy it immensely and am proud to cultivate it and tell people the background of this strain.
On a side note, I noticed a lot of people selling clones...but never had them in rotation. They'd have 10 strains for sell as clones and another 4 or 5 as dried meds but they never matched. I could never get dried meds of a strain that was being offered as clones. Unfortunately, I've had to battle mites and pm as a result from not treating clones I brought into my garden because I ignorantly assumed because a garden was 'medical' that it would be sterile and absent of such pest and disease....nope, but what was done was done and I had no choice but to accept it as a learning experience.
