Anyone grow Oregon Diesel before? Does this bud look... normal?

I've got four strains in the tent right now, I've never grown OD before. These buds look odd to me, at first it reminded me of bud rot I had in my outdoor end of the season last year. But its nice and dry in there...

The coloration running down the edges of the leaves is odd too. I've grown 14 strains I can think of off the top of my head, never seen one look quite like this. Any experience would be appreciated.

It might just be the strain itself, would you care to fill us in on the factors of this grow so we can further help you?

Thanks for responding. Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm not sure what aspects of my grow would be informative. Please ask me about anything, and I'll let you know.

Here are the basics: I'm growing in a 2x4 tent, in a soil mix, under a DIY COB light (currently running at about 350w). I'm just shy of 5 weeks into flower...

And it very well might be the way this strain looks, which is why I titled this the way I did. It may just naturally/normally have pale grey calyxes and somewhat odd leaf coloration.

i am having a hard time seeing anything wrong with it,, isnt it just maturing?
I've never seen a bud with so much grey in it... with plants, to me grey means dead or dying. So I was just wondering if that's normal for this strain, or maybe there was some deficiency or something?

They smell awesome, I'll give them that! Super sweet, a little piney and a little fruity.

Hopefully it's some kind of purple. It does look kinda weird though I guess it has a little more time to go so it may turn more purple. If it was bud rot it would be slimy to the touch.

I got this strain specifically because it was bread for Oregon -- i.e. it is mold and mildew resistant. It's sitting next to a perfectly healthy Blue Dream -- which I have read is actually PM vulnerable. So, it would be really ironic if it was some kind of fungi. But its not slimy, and I'm 99.9% sure its not bud rot.

It is the most Indica dominant plant I've ever run, so maybe that is purple in the making. The picture is influenced by the 3000k dominant lighting, its a little yellower/warmer than it looks to my eye. It's more of a blue/grey whey I look at the plant.

Hey Rob, I found this photo of your strain ,, and this pic is deeper into flower ,, look how the bud and leafs are turning very darkView attachment 3641409
Wow, thanks for that. My leaves don't look like that (yet?), but interesting that's the genetics mine shares. That would explain a lot. :) I've grown an indica dominant GSC that had dark leaves like that, but they were dark throughout the plants life. Time will tell how this one finishes up.

OD is a killer strain. Those pictures look like the good pheno of Ace of Spades looks. I think you are fine. How does it smell?
Smells really sweet, kind of fruity, a hint of pine. I got it as a clone from a dispensary. When you buy like that, you don't even usually get the name of the grower, let alone anything about the seed or breeder history.

OD Diesel is the breeder I believe. He is the one with Subcool/TGA.

I gave him a bunch of my crosses to try.

Cheers,

@Mohican - nice! Thanks for that info. Buying clones from dispensaries is always hit or miss. Sometimes I get something awesome, but everything switches up so 4 months later when I know how good it is, I usually don't seem to be able to get more (they'll have 6-12 completely different strains). I've taken clones myself before, but I don't have a big enough set up (or a perpetual) to take them of everything I grow just to have more around in case I like it. Luckily, 90% of what I've ended out with each time has been pretty great.

how did they turn out?
Pretty well. I wish I were growing it now in my outdoor, but I couldn't find it by the time I was ready for outdoor plants. It's supposed to be a good mold-resistant plant with a short flower time, perfect for Oregon outdoor grows... That said, my patient prefers Sativa dominant strains, and said this Indica dominant one makes her drowsy, so its a nice end of the day toke. It wasn't a huge producer, but the GG#4 took over the tent, so the OD needed to be a stronger competitor to thrive in there.

Funny, sad, or stupid story, depends how you choose to see it. For me, I simply did something stupid. We decided to make tincture out of it and I hadn't made any in almost a year, and totally wasn't thinking. I put a tray of ground up bud into the toaster oven and then turned it on to about 200º to decarb it. Fucking Duh. The heat does not come on gradually, it comes on full force (the coils only have one temperature, "on"). So, in the time that it took to "warm" up to 200 degrees the blast of heat effectively vaped the entire tray of buds. Smoke and steam came wafting out of the toaster oven, and you could smell pot every time we used it for a week or so after. We're lucky that we have more than we need, so I could afford to be an idiot that day. Had to relearn my rookie lessons: use a regular oven not a toaster oven, and PRE-heat the oven.

I found a couple of pics of the OD close to harvest... the one with two buds is GG#4 up front, OD in the back/top.

Looks like it should look except for the red-hair's for it to be mature
