I'm getting extremely tired of driving to San Jose every week.. but all that's around here (Stockton/Modesto, 45m South of Sacramento) is severely under purged and overpriced wax or budder. So, all you dabbers out there.. anyone know of any decent dispensaries in this area to get good concentrates from (must be a storefront if it's in Sacramento).. Thanks to any and all that try to help out

i only buy honeycomb or amber glass because the budder ive seen is what u stated . i sadly never seen good budder in my area
There's a problem with how concentrates are sold in dispensaries. They put a sticker on the side of the jar so you can't smell them. Generally, as long as a concentrate is a reasonably light color and good smell, it's going to be pretty good. But with these concentrates there is no way to know if you're buying something made with year old moldy trim or fresh product.

Staying away from the budder consistency is a good idea. It's usually (not always) made from old trim.

i get butter from balling up my product when its half waxed up and half still taffy. seems to provide the best turps and smells. but i do notice slightly darker product with older trim however taste an effect is no different. then again im talkn 3-6 month old herb not outdoor shit from 2011 lol

Totally correct IMO. Way better terpene retention because you're not applying heat as long.

Pretty much. Unless someone totally fucks up making it it's all going to do basically the same thing.

IMO 4-6 months is the point where even properly stored trim breaks down significantly. The fresher the better ofc...

As long as the smell is still good it's fine. Dark color doesn't always mean old, a lot of the time it's just moisture left in. Not necessarily bad at all.

Yeah, the club I go to in SJ always lets you look at the piece before you buy it, and it comes in parchment paper. Also, several times they've just pulled the slab out and cut a piece off right there. This is the reason I goto this club, and wish that one like it would open down the street instead of two hours away lol

fk yeah. That's basically how the Hemp Center in SF does it too (usually in a ball jar though). WAY better than individual packs that you can't inspect.

sounds nice, only person I know that runs BHO does so for a dispensary and he uses Power 5x and it comes out garbage... been resorting to name brands from the bay but even those have gone down in quality lately. shit looks clear as can be with no bubbles or anything, I get home and leave it in the sun for 4 hours and it looks like a fuckin galaxy

Nothing wrong with power 5. He's just probably making it wrong.

Also, generally amber glass and sap type consistencies test out more dirty (less purged) that wax. These saps can be incredibly deceptive. They might look good on a dispensary shelf but when you take them home they turn to goop. This is why wax is so popular. You can't really fake top shelf wax. If it's light colored wax, it's probably going to be pretty good.
