Anyone else sick of hearing about "Cali" weed ?

I grew up in California and lived there untill about 5 years ago, I grew outside and even in my living room under a skylight. When I lived there all I would ever hear is how the bud coming out of B.C ,and the Pac N.W was the shit. Now I live in the Pac N.W and all I hear about is how amazing the bud from Cali is. WTF !! I think people are confused and are always looking for the latest greatest and believe me the (grass) pardon the pun, is not always greener on the other side. Do not pay more for weed, seeds or clones from Cali its not the magical pot spot that everyone thinks.

Fully agree and I live in Cali. We are the birthplace of a lot of good strains though. There is a guy that comes down from Oregon that has pot that is as potent as anything here, so a bit of hype going on.

I just grow my own and do not care for the latest girl scout cookies, cherry pie, og everything etc. I do love the ability to grow my own here and not worry much. Other than that, you can take Cali I don't need it. Have family and job here, that and the pot laws are all that I like about it.

Never did like calling it that, but sometimes I do refer to good weed as "cali" weed to people who wouldn't understand anything else
Plus, it makes me look ignorant on the subject which is a security buff?

This just proves the old adage "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" for some folks. In my case, my faves were real Thai stick and Kona Gold back in the '70s neither of which were from my home state of Cali but the Purple Kush, skunk and Humboldt Green were fantastic.

I'm Cali, born and raised. Personally I've never heard of NW or BC bud being better than Cali weed. In fact, to me BC bud means it's some old generic hydro that's just whatever weed to me.

I don't think that we can grow weed here any better than someone can in Ohio or whatever, but the thing is we just have SO MUCH GREAT WEED HERE compared to the rest of the country.

I've done a few national tours with a band who smokes weed, and we had fans smoke us out across the country. The simple fact is there is simply SO MUCH GREAT WEED HERE IN CALI.

Also, it's hella cheap here compared with the rest of the country. I can get $60 1/4's of primo bud here just by walking into a storefront (dispensary), no problem. I love Cali for the weed.

It is nothin new nor special infact if grown wrong can be as bad as chink weed!!

Also, Cali holds very
few select breeders. Some unique quality strains originated in Cali and
refinement
of weed since the '70's is another reason Cali grows a good
smoke. Weed has been cultural here in Cali for some time.

Well I can't say as Ive knowingly smoked Cali weed.......but the bud here in B.C if you know the right people to buy from is insane! Personally I find some of it too potent.

I live in the deep south east. And I am 35+ year smoker. I have smoked Cali, BC, Columbian, Jamaican, Thai, Maui etc etc etc. IMHO the best budz in the world come from my tent. Who doesn't have pride in their own weed and if you don't grow, who would'nt say budz from there home are'nt great (povided it smokes good and is not ditch weed). Of course if you don't grow, how do you REALLY know where the frick the budz you buy from your dealer are from? So in short, IMHO a dealer is certainly gonna say the dank they are selling you is the dank God smokes, he wants to sell his product. And a grower is gonna tell you his budz are grown in heaven. Good budz are good budz. The only differences detectable are sative or indica when smoking good budz. Just my .02

weed is the same all over the place long as it is growed right and a good flavor. Just a lot more grows out west with it being medical states

Now I do agree that Indica grown in the 'emerald triangle' is awesome frikkin budz. But that is mostly due to the fact that conditions there are almost identical to where the strains originated from in Afghanistan.

Lol. It's all a bunch of crap. In aus everyone harps on about Adelaide hydro weed being the best. IMO Sydney shit has always been well up to par. But it's all nothin compared to your own shit. No matter where you are you have a chance of getting good weed or shit weed. All depends on the skill of the fucker who grows it

Is it BETTER than from somewhere else? Depends on who grew it somewhere else imo.

cali has the reputation when another state steps up the game then maybe we will start looking for some killer tejas or sweet george kush

I live out east and when someone got some good buds there like it came from cali...got some kush blah blah blah. the thing is this so called cali weed is uncured dekiefed garbage. I figure if it really was from Cali well the stuff that makes it out here is the garbage that wasnt good enough to be sold as medical or even good enough to be sold in cali...its crap. Im not saying cali weed is not good im sure its pretty badass out there but the so called kush that makes it from cali is commercial garbage.

The fact remains that the soil of the San Joaquin valley is some of the most fertile in the world - period. The latitude of Humboldt, Trinity and Mendocino counties and their position near the Pacific ocean makes for another great contributing factor in growing bud. Good soil makes good roots, leaves and bud. If you can't tell the difference between fruit grown in the San Joaquin valley from Florida (gag), then you've never tasted it.

Cali weed has also been glorified by all kinds of media. Music to be specific, Dr. Dre "The Chronic". I think its more of an expression now, not specifically saying or knowing its from Cali. We do have some decent bud though, at least in my neck of the woods.
