Anyone actually using an iPonic 600?

I have been looking around, and see a bunch of people talking about this controller, but not a lot of people who seem to have made the jump. I need a controller that can talk to me remotely, and the Agrowtek setup is just too pricey for now.

I would really like to hear from people who are actually running an iPonic 600. Are you using the communications module with it? Have you run into any issues with it? Does it do everything it promises to do, and well? For the coin they want for this thing, I'd really like to know it can do what they claim.

Thanks!

i have an agrowtek. when i was pricing them out the iponic was actually more expensive. i upgraded from the agrowtek gc-c to the gc-pro. that's a lot more expensive but you don't need the pro if you aren't trying to control multiple rooms with different air handlers, co2, etc... if you are trying to control a single environment then the agrowtek is the way to go in my opinion. ichecked them both out pretty hard before i purchased. do you run minisplits or air handlers? that makes a big difference too. i run air handlers and there just wasn't a way to hook them up to the iponic.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

I'm running a 12,000 btu standalone now, but am looking to upgrade when I move to someplace (hopefully WA) that is a bit more understanding of my medicinal needs, so I need to make sure everything is scalable. I would be looking at running separate veg and flower rooms, with either mini splits or full size units. The video on the iponic claims it can control an air handler in place of a normal thermostat.

As for the Agrowtek, the GC-Pro is actually $100 cheaper than the GC-C on their website. Even still, the agrowtek prices at $1500 before any add ons, and I found the iponic with communication module for about $1000 total. Where were you seeing pricing on the Agrowtek that was cheaper than the iponic? Out of the two, I think I like the GC-Pro better since the one unit could control the two rooms eventually, it just looking like I was priced out of that unit.

I'm currently doing my first run with an iponic 600. I don't have the communication model. It came with firmware that needed to be updated and it is not very beginner friendly compared to the Sentinel chhc-4, which is the the only other controller that I've used. Other than that, I'm very happy with it. I particularly like the sensor. It looks really well made and it has a built-in light meter. The only thing I plug directly into the iponic is the CO2 regulator. Everything else (lights, AC, Heat, Dehumidifier) run off relays that have trigger cables plugged into the iponic. My dream grow room is finally starting to take shape!

I have been running the iponic 600 for almost a year now. I have to say IT IS NOT READY FOR THE MARKET. Look guys, if you want an expensive toy that can turn your lights on, or that you can see the conditions of your room with via the web (instead of a $70 webcam) then by all means buy one. But if you really want to control an environment this thing isnt ready. Its buggy, randomly activates opposing equipment, I have had 2 units fail, and there have been times when it just stopped sending info to the cloud and just shut down. This all may be fine if you have a tent or a closet, but if you really want to remotely monitor or control a room... random malfunctions can cause very expensive mistakes. I have been patient and tried to work with the manufacturer but bottom line this isnt rocket science. We are talking about basic programming and a bunch of relays. I'd say give them a few years and if they are still around... try it out.

This is my first winter with the iponic 600 and I recently had to make a change to it to keep the humidity levels in check. During winter, I don't need A/C so my dehumidifier has been getting some use lately. The dehumidifier wasn't keeping up with the humidity in the room. I noticed that the dehumidifier was turning off and on intermittently when it was supposed to be running so I went into advanced settings and saw that my "override on duration" had a default setting of two minutes and the "override off duration" had a default setting of one minute thirty seconds. I changed override on to ten minutes and I changed override off to zero minutes. The dehumidifier is now keeping the humidity in check and the dehumidifier is no longer turning off and on intermittently. However, the dehumidifier still isn't always on when the humidity gets outside the deadband. I'm wondering if that's because the controller uses a little fuzzy logic when it comes to humidity. Like I said, my humidity is now in check, but I still want the dehumidifier to immediately turn on after the humidity gets outside the deadband.

I am using an Iponic 600 since May 2013. It has been everything I needed for a large flowering room. Recently I had to reprogram and contacted Link4, Alec, for help. He spent about 1.5 hours on the phone with me over 2 days completely reprogramming the controller and it again works like a charm. I am adding 2 more flowering rooms this month and will be buying Iponic 600s and leaning on Link4 and Alec for support. It is a welcome change to be dealing with efficient equipment and professional support.
