Anybody tried making a DIY inline UV air cleaner with UV diodes?

No,
LED can't currenly do germicidal applications.
LED can only do one red and one blue efficiently. and white only via phosphors like we had in your old CRT TVs.
You could argue that LEDs are pretty crap, except for the few instances where they shine.
Anyway no X-Ray for 80 or UV-C LED laser light for 40 years.
