I moved and now i have this space that I'm going to grow in but i cant modify walls or anything. the area is 4'w 2'deep 9' tall with a shelf 1 1/2 feet from the ceiling. i have a 1000w hps and clones of some great white shark im wanting the plants at 42" before budding. if anyone has any idea on how i
should ventilate and design said room please let me know. oh yeah i have a separate box for clones, and im thinking of budding 6 at a time.

I say get a tent that size or build one. With an enclosed place where no heat can hide, meant to vent, like a tent the cooling gets 100% easier. That is what I did.

Yah gotta say, I tried growing in a closet about that size with just 4 big flourescents, and without cutting a hole in the ceiling i was hitting the 90s after a few hours of lights on.

Without creating some sort of exhaust system above the door a 1000w is suicide. just use a register and make it look professional until you're lease is up.

:peace: out.

no way with 1000HPS. heat would be a massive issue. door would have to be open all the time.

seriously buy yourself a register and put a tent inside and run the reg. out of the room. if you have to buy a new door so what.

You will have to spend some money for some new equiptment.1000w is way too much.More like a 400w would be a better size for that room.Maybe even some T-5s(great for vegging) would be good too.I think you would still need a good intake & outake fans because you will still have heat build up.Good luck

the door can be replaced i can cut the shit out of it but i need some form of stealth plus the other door into the room hits the door to the closet.

what is a register (im not sure if were thinking of the same register) i have never had heat issues before now so im a noob again. Also how would i put a tent in that small of an area.

what about a cool tube on the light run out of the door on either end. Do you think that would be at least be semi effective.

I can keep the ballast outside. the air pumps as well. there will be a air purifier in the room that neutralizes smell. i thought about making the shelf fit to the door and cutting the top part of the door off and running exhaust out like that and doing a 10 in fan at the bottom to bring air in. Yes i can do a cool tube as well.

Go with CFL's and just LST your plants thats what I do in the same space. I only have a 7" fan blowing air out of the closet. I leave the door open about 8" then covered the whole thing with black palstic to keep the light out. At the top I have a round metal tube that the fan blows the hot air out through.

IMO 1000watt is what i need to grow these beauties to perfetion i just have to solve the heat issue first
Ok what is problem with leaving the door open. it what i do sometimes in a closet about same size. Not being an ass, just is the a problem with leaving door open besides your light escapes? If anything use cardboard with refletive matrial on it and build a 4ft false wall after plants but before door that would help reflect some light back in. and with door open heat should dissipate. I have 1 600w hps and 1 400 w hps in closet 3.5 x 8 with door open and fan blowing air IN i keep temps aroun 80

I grow in a closet i thought would not be able to be vented. At first my temps reached well into the 90s. Even with a 250w HPS. I figured out i should cut a vent in the top of the closet that connects the inside of the closet to my room. The vent looks like any regular air conditioning vent. Its about 5in x 10in. With little slats and everything. So nobody ever gets suspicious of a vent. Then i put a box fan on the inside of the closet on the top shelf. Just like you, i have a shelf about 1ft from the cieling. It works great. Temps stay relatively consistent now. Hope this helps

i am but plan on putting a tent in there soon, so i can control it a bit better without making modifications to the walls/doors.

Alright Fellas so Heres the plan. The door is a piece of crap replacement door in apartments. they cost 20 bux at home depot. Im gonna cut it down to the shelf then im going to mount a double window fan at the top there to suck air out. then i will run my cool tube up to that area above the room so it can be vented out from there. then i will put a few 4" fans inside and the air filtration unit . There will also be a few fans at the bottom of the door running in the room to bring fresh air in.

Anyone have suggestions to improve this design?

Cut the bottom of the door slightly off, cut rounds holes in the top of the door and mount fans on it that blow out but will not make an actual opening for light to enter through. Fresh air will be sucked in under the door where you cut it off and blown out the top and you do not have major light leak problems.
