gateway drugs.... gateway city....

you do know that you won't be able to go out and pick up some munchies at 7-11 at 3am... oh and probably no 24 hour starbucks out there, and few roads (forget about the traffic of the 101 and 10 I guess...)

I dunno... unless you're fascinated by milking cows. of course it is beautiful, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries to live in the world. Geneva is actually the second most expensive city in the entire world. They are super open to foreigners though, roughly 1/4 of the population is foreign-born. Unless you have some highly marketable technical skills, you will need to speak the native language: French, German, or Italian. Which language you should study up on depends on where you decide to move, so better get to figuring that out! Unless you have a work permit, you'll probably need to utilize the 3 month rule. You "visit" the country for 3 months, travel elsewhere for a bit, and repeat.

Give it a lot of thought and planning before hopping on a plane with a one way ticket.

have you ever been to switzerland?? you sound like your describing some small shmuck town in Minessota.

Switzerland has good roads, good education, high taxes, and LOW costs of living with regards to after-tax wages. they have like a 50% income tax rate. but then you won't have to spend money on stuff like health insurance, education (even college education), and other of the really high costs of living associated with living in the states.

public services are next to none in quality...

if you consider being able to take 3 months off work for being sick and having your job right there waiting for you, a benchmark-low crime rate, some of the finest skiing in the world along with the most pristine and beautiful locals in the entire Alps mountain range, a burden you just cannot bear b/c the government taxes the shit out of your wages.... then don't move there....

switzerland consistently ranks among the happiest places in the world.... it's not b/c it's the shithole you described.
