Any Update On Tommy Chong?

Tommy Chong was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and said he was going to treat himself with hemp oil. Since then, I have seen 1 tweat where he said he is 99% cancer free, but that was a few months ago.

Now if you google it, one link says he is cured and the other one says the hemp oil didn't do a goddamn thing.

What's the deal?

There's a article in jan 2013 high times mag !
Hes still fighting it , he has a very slow case of it whitch makes him able to fight it with lots of stuff including herb !

what does he credit the oil/herb for doing for him in high times?

He said on his podcast it didn't help

99% percent cancer free?. . .that's a bit like 99% "not pregnant".

Either you have cancer, or you do not. It is certainly possible not to know whether or not you have residual cancer after treatment, but not knowing is not the same thing as not having it. If Chong is "99% cancer free% that means he has cancer.

Anyway, I can't speak to the specifics of Chong's condition, but I can say the following:

-Most cases of prostate cancer are non-aggressive and asymptomatic. It probably fair to say that more men die WITH prostate cancer (and of something else, like a heart attack) then die BECAUSE of prostate cancer.

-"Watchful waiting" (ie doing nothing until the disease causes problems) is a perfectly reasonable treatment option for older men with small amounts of non-aggressive cancer.

-Whether or not hemp oil is likely to help prostate cancer is debatable (personally I strongly doubt it), but Chong's hemp oil certainly isn't going to make things any worse.

I got a chance to talk to Tommy briefly before this show a couple years ago..



He asked me to help him with some local info for a line in the show. He asked if there was some trailer park or something around. I was like "trailer park"?? He said, you know where the hippies hang out!

I didn't see/hear him say "he is cured" in the first thirty seconds. I hear him indirectly say "yeah it does" in reference to weed helping cure things in general which wasn't even made as a bold statement in a chopped up clip at that. Lets keep things real here and not bs.

Oddly enough, I don't consider a youtube video where someone makes a bunch of extraordinary claims to be "science".

Show me a link to the peer-reviewed study showing that hemp oil offers benefit to prostate cancer and then maybe you'll have something.

Until then, you're just blowing smoke.

clearly you didn't watch the video. You "can't" say you have found a CURE which is what Tommy Chong stated, unless you want to risk getting locked up for a long time. Why? well ask yourself that question. They know cannabis is the most medicinal plant on the earth, and the proof is out now. This war will be over as soon as people wake up and do some research, instead of smoking pot and claiming the same bs propaganda the gov. feeds. This is a cure all when properly used.

Smoking weed doesn't cure anything. Ingesting the oil is what cures, or applying it topically.

So not only is Tommy Chong an expert in medical oncology, he's supposed to be an authority on criminal law too?

Practicing medicine without a license, sure, that's a criminal offense.
But just making risible claims about cannabis? Sorry. . .don't think so.

If you disagree, feel free to cite exactly the criminal statute you think making this sort of claim would violate.
Or better yet, name a person who has spent time in prison merely for claiming that cannabis (or anything else) cures cancer.

One more time, Youtube videos don't constitute scientific proof. At best they provide anecdotal evidence, and at worst they're pure garbage. Most of the ones I've seen fall into the latter category.

You claim there is "science" to support your contention that cannabis oil cures cancer. Again, please cite me one published scientific study showing medical benefit of cannabis extracts in treating any form cancer in human beings.

I'm not looking for a metalink to some propaganda page.
I'm not looking for a study that shows that cannabinoids affects cancer cells in TEST TUBES.
I'm not looking for a study that shows that cannabinoids can make cancer patients FEEL better.

Show me a published study showing some positive cure rate (any rate) associated with cannabinoid therapy in human beings with cancer (any cancer).

Given that this is the bare minimum standard necessary to evaluate ANY medical claim in human beings whatsoever, I'm not asking very much here.

Every *OTHER* validated cure for cancer (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, etc), has been thoroughly evaluated this way and there are literally reams of studies specifically defining where these treatments do and don't work, how they work, and how well.

If you've got some actual scientific evidence, please cite it.

Until then, you're still just blowing smoke.

The two aren't mutually exclusive (ie he could have tried hemp oil, found it didn't work, then had curative surgery).

Anyway, that's probably not the case here. I just "googled" this and there is a story from about 6 months ago:

So assuming this published story is correct, Chong only has stage 1 cancer, the earliest stage.

That's the stage where many doctors recommend "watchful waiting", or just doing NOTHING until there is some evidence the cancer is spreading or causing symptoms. This correlates with Chong's tweet that he is "99% cancer free." To me that means he has localized low-grade disease, and its not bothering him any.

With stage 1 disease, and a low grade tumor, the ten year survival rate for prostate cancer is about 90%.

Certainly, I doubt hemp oil is going to make Chong's cancer WORSE. If there is evidence its spreading, he can always still undergo surgery or other therapy.

If you can't do it, how about just saying "there aren't any", or "I don't know of any"?
