It's not that important to get exactly the same light intensity everywhere. Professional glass house growers work with a uniformity rule of thumb to have the darkest spots still get 80% of the average light. You don't need to go the extra mile and waste more light to prop this up to 90% or higher.

Most certainly not to the point where you start wasting more light on the walls just to get "better" uniformity when what you had before was fine/optimal already.

Uniformity is always a compromise and when you get away from the optimal values and push it too high you are simply wasting light, decreasing total quantum counts and lowering yields.

These are really great lights. I really like these guys. The pcbs have to be multi channel for dialing the spectrum you want, more red/blue, etc. They are pricey but they seem to be making an industry impact commercially. I am sure these are similar to the ChilLed pcb approach.
yes but easyer to make as theres only 2 types of led (3 colors)
so do you think its a "logharhymical" layout all the way along then or just at the ends

not sure how your seeing Samsung better?
Samsung cal says 3000k 80 CRI at 40Deg C in AZ volt bin is 35.1lumens, Nichia at same spec is 35.2 Lumens, as they have a lower forward volts

only had a quick look last was late haha, and couldnt see nichia effiency stats on there data sheets
i did see that they do a 75ma version that gives about 78lm and there 150ma verions give 149lm would you say that the ones used in these lights are the 2.65/ 2.80v ones not the 5.95v then
I was trying to make the different leds fit with the drivers they use to work this out last night

Nope, actually not if you look closer.
I like the fact that the diodes at the strip ends are spaced more tightly together to get a more even coverage. It's the same as we do when we use the "logharhymical" layout. First time I've seen this on a commercial light.

with out getting a better pic so that i can properly count the leds with working out using the size of drivers i think its about 154 leds in the 6500k string
42v / 2.83v = 14 (14 leds) series then they are connected parallel in 11 groups = 154 leds each pcb bar gets 765ma as 7.65a /10 = 765ma they are parallel so each group in the 11 gets 65ma and just under 42v this seem to fit but is slightly over the 138led count i originally thought

the 2700k has les leds so must be run of the 5.72a 42v driver will do those calcs in a bit

update: there must be about 112 2700k leds 5.72a /10 boards = 572ma 572ma /8 groups = 71.5ma 42v /2.84v = 14.7887323944 leds (14 leds) in series 14 leds x 8 groups =112 leds
cant get these numbers to fit i keep getting odd numbers of leds even with the correct number of 124 leds for the 2700k

i supose they might be using slightly less leds and runnng them at more than 65ma more like 85 like chilled do with their boards

14leds in series x 9 groups seem to give 85ma 42v per group and 126 leds

i will mess with this more to try to get the ma for each led group the same for 2700k and 6500k

update: ok just managed to count the leds

143 6500k
124 2700k
12 660nm

It's a nice fixture, prefer a smaller blue peak in the spd for flowering cannabis imo(6500k substituted).......I see what they went for =="general purpose"

Does it really matter? We already have the best available to use in many different forms. Nichia, Bridgelux, and Samsung are all pumping out these mid power diodes hitting around 180-200 Lm/w. This fixture is just using 2700k and 6500k with some 660nm which you could build a decent replica for less than half the price, you wont get that additional clustering towards the edges until Alibaba guys start making strips like that.

I find the pink to be quite the eyesore. I certainly wouldn't want to look in my grow space and see that every day.

was going to get some made that's my point as yes you can make this light at a fraction with clustering
i wanted to figure this light out fully hence the research and questions before designing pcb so i can make the same or improve on it i wouldn't want less leds but im finding it hard getting a certain figure on the number of leds on each bar of each k
i just had a message for the guy who won one which he reckoned there was 12 660nm 80 2700k and 140 6500k but he did say he might have got it a but wrong cus he has done it with the light on lol

Just at the ends, mate! It's not neccessary to do it all the way long, because of the usually short distance to the canopy. But would be interesting to see a PAR map just to know if it works or if there still is a hotspot in the center.

Yeah, >80% is not neccessary and almost impossible without heavy effort, I fully agree with you. Even 80% are hard to reach in the corners.
But one could also use small reflector-sheets along the sides to increase side intensity. I imagine 2" wide sheets along all 4 sides. Something like the QB reflectors but half as wide should work and would not increase energy consumption.

my new light is finally finished! Troubleshooting cost me 2 days, lol!
No, no wiring error, in the end both AV meters and one of the potentiometers was defective. Luckily I still had a poti laying around, but until I have new AV-meters, she run without. (Yepp, cheap e3ay shit, have to blame myself!)
But now everything works as it should.

But it has too much blue for my taste! Half that much 6500°k diodes would have been enough. No question, it's a horny lamp, but it was not only made with regard to cannabis growing, its more for commercial crops.

the guy in the vid with growmau5 reckoned running both gives a spectrum like 4000k i supose you could flip the diode count if you were making something similar to give more 2700k

Agreed random, general purpose spd, they didn't get the memo which demographic buys $1500 led lights.

We all ran hps full cycle before, flower results paid my bills not short and stout plants in veg.
