Any idea how long left? Russian Rocket Fuel - Day 70 from seed.

Hi guys,

I understand that the seed banks advertise shorter-than-reality times with regards to flowering, and in this case the whole grow.I have searched around and found a fair few people growing RRF, but all of whom have harvested at or before day 75.

I am now on day 71 (pics from day 70) and they seem rather small still, which leads me to think that they still have a considerable amount of time left? I ordered a loupe (30x) to have a better look at the trichromes, but zoomed in on the camera pictures I can see that at least one type, the largest mushroom trichromes, are still clear from what I can tell.

It now has the lion share of a 135W LED and a 85W CFL for additional lighting. I wonder if this is sufficient to develop larger buds than what it already has?

Could anyone here please offer some insight into this strain, or my setup in general please? The idea of having something to smoke before christmas is looking less and less likely..

Thank you all for your time

Nobody can tell if they look like they've already swelled, or are likely to bulk up?

I am a novice and find it difficult to tell just how large these are supposed to grow, any help/comments are much appreciated.

Cheers

You ll get something for Christmas she looks to be 3 weeks away, hard to tell though you need better pics. Look at her with a microscope but there is no point doing this until you have at least 50% brown hairs. 15$ at the hydrostore and it's well worth it. If she is not ready for Christmas, I am sure it will be ready enough to cut a lower branch and do a test smoke :eyesmoke:

Very much appreciated! Thats the good news I was hoping for!

And as for the 50% brown hairs? Does this happen before the bud would swell to its maximum, during, or after?

Thanks for your help so far mate

50% brown hairs is getting near the end and the bud won't be swelling much more at this point ,... but it's important you wait until it's ready, harvesting only a few days too early will drastically reduce potency.

i absolutely agree with ^, but i disagree that ripeness has anything directly and definitively to do with regard to the pistils. in fact, most of my plants have all oranged pistils prior to the flush, and they usually respond to that flush with a burst of new growth marked by flurries of new pistils, as well as immense swelling of the mature buds.

but for sure, i would suggest that it is better to be a day late on harvest rather than a day early.

:peace:

Cheers for the help guys, I have not taken it down yet.
IMG_0013.jpgIMG_0012.jpg I feel as though it is swelling, and the trichomes still appear clear/cloudy..

I see a few new white hairs, which could mean another growth spurt?

Also wondering that because this is an autoflower being grown under 12/12 (due to the rest of the tent) will it take a lot longer; does it go on light hours? or day/night 24h cycles, regardless of amount of light?

Cheers again guys. and I am out of the chop it down mindset, and wanting to wait till its ultra ripe!
