did some saltwater as a kid. i'm close to the ocean so we do a lot of shark and ray fishing. they have oyster beds that the rays feed on. waters about 10 feet deep. we fish from shore with 12 foot surf rods. i've hooked into rays over 200 lbs that took 300 yards of line and kept right on going. i was left with an empty spool on my reel more than once. we carry 2 extra spools of line with us. i have some pics somewhere.

Whoa....awesome. I wish I lived close to the ocean still. Shark meat is awesome tho, I had it one time, I caught a little Nurse shark off shore. That was probably the biggest thing I ever caught, it was about 4-5 ft long.

Fishing is where it's at. My dad and I go fishing together. Rarely catch anything, but it's fun. Last time i went ocean fishing was out of bodega bay(I think) and I got super sea sick. Caught a few nice cod, though.

i went to lake cumberland a few weekends ago for striped bass fishing. They use down riggers and troll it was pretty fun.. Caught 3 keepers and a few smaller one. There big fish like 3 feet long of average and about 25 pounds. You about die reeling them in lol..
I like to trout fish too, dont get into that whole fly fishing thing much tho. I live close to a river. I just catch some chubs on some small hooks and run some lines w/ big weights so they stay still in the river w/ the chubs on a lead. It's worked great this year i caught a brown trout that was 13 pounds hell of a fight. There a fun fish to catch

Lake Rayburn is a nice place to fish. I love to fish, but I usually don't catch anything but a wicked buzz! I caught a yellowtail off the coast of Baja once, no idea on the weight, we cooked it with lemon on the boat and ate it before we got home.

man I live right on the coast (sort of semi rural area) and I guess i just take it for granted? I haven't been fishing in years, although I used to love it before I got all grown up.
the biggest problem we have here is that you need a license to fish, because the area has been raped by the big fisheries!
If the gov handed out day passes from bait stores and such I'd prolly fish a bit more.

Stories ay..

We use to vaction in Morro Bay quite often.
Onetime, when the family decided they wanted to go to some of the shops in the area, i decided to go fishing.
So i got one of my heavier salt water pole's with 50lb test on.
I hooked on a nice chunk of squid, and tossed it out about 20feet from the little pier i was standing on, and i let it sink to the bottom.

I sat there for awhile, watching the schools of sardines under the pier.
Then all the sudden i hear a few clicks on my baitcaster, so i jump and walk over to it, and CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK!!!!!!!!
Line starts going out like crazy, so i grab the pole and let it take out alittle line, it starts to slowdown, so i start to reel in, i battled for about 10mins before my dad came along and saw that i had something big on, by then the fish had worn me out pretty good, so i hand my dad the pole, and he battles the it for another 10mins...then all the sudden SNAP line broke.

It was pretty crazy.
I think it was probably a big ass ray...
