If you love weed then you'll love vancouver. It's the weed epicenter of North America.

I don't live in Vancouver but have gone to visit and it is gorgeous. The weather is awesome, the scenery incredible and of course the weed is good. You live right next door to British Columbia and I think they probably have the best weed in Canada.
I happen to live in Ontario and think we are runners up.:? Lets see how many Canadians we can piss off. j/k ...sort of. :-|

It is quite pricey out west so take that inot consideration but I think it is well worth it. If I didn't live in Ontario, I probably would like to live out west in either province. Its gorgeous out there.
cool have you been? every one else please comment i would love to hear what all the Canadians have to say! come on

yea i cant wait im going up Dec. 10th to look for a loft or something downtown i figure i can still rent i heard i just cant own since im an American an all but i was wondering about the cultural differences before i go thanks lacy i kno the scenery is awesome how is the architecture god damn i cant wait i own my own landscape biz. so im like obsessed with plants and evergreen are my favorites and ive seen pics of Vancouver and its covered with them plus its like a garden mecca actually thinking of getting into the nursery biz thats my main reason for going since the climate is perfect for plants it would be gret to get some land on the island and start growing

Been there, it's pretty good. A lot of people who aren't climatologists don't know this but Vancouver shares the same climate as San Fran. The only thing is that you'll have to become a canucks fan....or they'll publicly stone you.

Vancouver is beautiful, cosmopolitan, trendy, pricey, nice people, great stores, museum, harbor, beach, etc., etc. Weather is pretty much "damp". Winters are not bad, some snow but not a lot but you won't want to make the drive north, crossing the Malahat (mountain pass), summers are beautiful and warm. The weed is superb and plentiful. The women are warm, wet and willing. If you prefer a smaller town, Duncan is very nice and so is Nanaimo. You can catch the ferry or the high speed cat in Victoria but just the ferry further north. You can see the U.S. eh (Olimpic mountains) from the beach in Victoria.

I live on the Island as well, it truly is a beautiful place; and the weed loves it here.

I don't know what you consider expensive/cheap, but, I hardly ever pay more than $30 for a heavy eight. But usually it is around $20-25. It would be safe to bet that it might be more expensive in Vancouver proper.
As for rent and such, well, the rent in Vancouver is fairly high. At least as far as I'm concerned. I would think that your going to be looking at around $1000+, minimum. Food is reasonable I think, you'll be living near a major port so shipping cost wont be that high. But gas, on the other hand, is around $1.06L which bites nuts.

Don't take my word for it though, hopefully someone here is from the mainland and care answer your questions better than I can. I'm sure that you will love it here. Except maybe for the traffic...:)

I was born in Vancouver...it's gorgeous. I lived just near the base of Grouse Mountain...what a beautiful plave to live. Vancouver Island is great too...it is a perfect place to grow some GREAT outdoor stuff. I lived there as well up in Port Hardy.

I moved from Portland to Vancouver for the year or actually Burnaby, I go to SFU. Weed is relitively accepted here, probably about the same as it is in Oregon. I get the same prices as Cearid said, or in that ballpark. For the other people from Vancouver who posted in this thread, what kind of strains do you/can you get easily?

I'm making an assumption here, but, I can easily get Burmese, King, God, Kush, Purps, White-Rhino, and Kimo. Though I'm skeptical if the "Kimo" thats being sold is real Kimo. I think its something else but I don't know what. This is just on the island mind you, and as for the Rhino and Kimo, I would have to work harder than I like too to track it down. I would think that some of the same strains are available on the mainland, but I bet that there are a shit-ton more if you look hard enough. Good luck :)

I've read that Ontario actually produces the most weed in Canada, despite the reputation of the west. Although, B.C. probably produces much better outdoor.

This could be true, giving that, if hash is as popular as I have heard then the buds are probably used for that. Your from Quebec, Fiona, is hash really popular out in that neck of the woods?

BC bud kicks ass!!! I havent tried the weed from ontario but I know you dont wanna get it in Alberta their weed sucks ass!! Vancouver is good. you can buy your seeds there, buds are plentiful. Just stay AWAY from Hastings st. There are some good shops but you dont wanna be in the wrong area. You never know what youll end up with if you buy from around there.

In Montreal there is a number to dial and one of 6-10 bike couriers will show up to your house with 4-5 different strains in Tupperware container. They don't always have hash, but maybe about half the time. 35 bucks for home delivery isn't bad I would think, especially when considering some of the weather these guys (and girls) have to ride through. I can remember only one time in the past 4 years that they closed due to the snow. Thats pretty good going.
