Okay guys, so I will be making a journal about my first out door grow. I will try to update the growing process every week with lots of pictures!

Any Advice is welcome!

WEEK 1
Okay, so I got 100 seeds that were just from random outdoor plants from the past 2-3 years. Just some old seeds. I also got 4 kush seeds! So I began germinating 16 of my old seeds and 4 of the Kush seeds. So far 4 seeds have sprouted.

I went out to the grocery store today and bought 30 plastic beer cups, a bag of miracle grow mixed soil with nutes that last up to 3 months, and 1 glo and gro flourecent light tube.

Once all the seeds have germinated I am going to put holes in the bottoms of each cup, fill them with miracle grow soil, and start the 20 seeds under this 22" light in my buddys closet watering every morning!

Do not use miracle grow, it will kill your plants if you arent careful because there are way too many nutes in it. You want an organic soil at the very least.

Well, no where around where I live (Canada) sells Fox Farm. Here's a list of soils they do sell. Could someone tell me chich one is a good one to use, and what nutrients I need to add later on.
Heres a list of soils:
http://www.homehardware.ca/Products/index/index/Ntt/soil/Ntx/mode%2Bmatchpartial/Ntk/All_EN/Nty/1/N/+/Ne/20000000/page/1

and for the lights, I am just using this one Gro bulb for a week just to get the sprouts out of the soil, then there going outside, is this fine?

Thanks for the help!

Promix is the shit bro. Perfect for all stages of growth with the addition of nutes after your plants have established themselves. Good luck, from another fellow Canadian.

Edit: As for nutrients, I use a hydroponics fertilizer that my local hydro store has made for them. To be honest, as much as I like to support the local shops, buy some good shit. Any two part hydro nutrient will be good while they are inside. When I put them in the bush I use AN Heavy Harvest. I hear people say its not that great, but I've had what I consider excellent results for growing in my specific area (Northern Ontario).

Peace

Thanks bro, I'm heading down to get 2 big bags of it tommorow. I also just picked up some nutes thats a 15-15-18 ratio. Is that good?
Im going to start adding nutes 4 weeks:
1/4 solution for 2 weeks
then 1/2 for 2 weeks
then full for the rest of the time.

I am going to visit/water my plant on monday, wednesday, and friday
and add nutes on every 2 times,. does that sound right?

Good luck with the grow man, sounds like it'll be good. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. Personally I think you should veg for a week or two before you go outdoors, that's what I'm gunna do. Remember to pull your males, my friend forgot to do that and his Kush ended up not so great lol.

buy some organic nutes if your new to this its alot harder to mess them up with those numbers i assume its not organic. plus organic is just plain better. if i were you id still get at least one more light and keep them in an extra week. one week of growth is not much the more you can shelter them the better their chances are. pro mix is good soil used it many times. with it you will need to add all your ferts. buy something tailored just for growth/vegetating stage of plants something with a higher nitrogen content than the other two numbers p and h. something like 5-1-1, basicaly you want the nitrogen content to be higher than the phosphorus and potassium.

Week 2

Ok guys I told you the next update with pictures would be here today so here it is-

Almost all of my 30 seeds (I got some more kush seeds) have germinated.

I went to my local home store and bought two 85L bags of Pro-Mix potting soil.
This soil has: Peatmoss, Perlite, and Limestone (for PH)
I also bought 2 more lights (15 watt CFL's)

Everything is set up in the grow room I started and I have some pictures to show you!

I also got some powder fertilizer/nutes that reads 15-15-18. I am using this for the Veg stage then going to get some other nutes/fertz for the flower stage.
Whats a good ratio for flowering? ?-?-? how long do i use it for?

You are going to definitely need more light, unless you can give them some sunlight. Your fertilizer will be fine. You generally want a higher nitrogen rating for vegging a plant, but the shit you bought will work. For flowering, find something with a higher phosphorous content. I'm using the Advanced Nutrients Heavy Harvest, but if you don't want to spend the coin for that, then you will do alright flowering with something from Canadian Tire like: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/2/OutdoorLiving/FertilizersGrassSeed/SpecialtyFertilizer/PRDOVR~0592224P/CIL%252BTomato%252BFood%252B6-12-12.jsp?locale=en

I've never used that stuff, so don't listen to me, but that is the similar nutrient breakdown you should be looking for.

I thought germination took place in darkness?

I understand they're under soil but I would assume the lights are COMPLETELY useless atm..

The germination was is the dark. I just put them under the light in soil once the seeds were sprouted.

Do you think I'll need more lights? I'm just using this setup for a week only, just to get the sprouts out of the dirt and by next week the weathers suppost to be alot warmer.

ure doing fine , use that fert sparingly at bout an 1/8 strength. theyll not need to b fed every time u water but if notice any yellowing just feed them a little . in fact u may not need 2 feed them 4 a couple of weeks , i only say a couple b'cuzz pro-mix , if im correct , doesent really have much of an npk value . good luk
