Sure it's ants? Except leaf cutters, ants don't usually eat vegetation. Actually they're good predators and they aerate the soil. Even if they're crawling all over a plant, it's usually an indication of some other pest like aphids or scales. Most of the time ants are beneficial to outdoor gardens.

Damn, that really blows sorry to hear. Looks like you've got the situation under control. They might reveg if you put them under 24/24. Where do you live? I've never seen a cutter ant before. Don't those live in south America or Africa lol

Sounds like you overlooked an aphids problem, and the ants took over! You might find this interesting:

Ants & Termites

Ants and white ants (termites) curse cannabis in semitropical climates. Though they look somewhat similar, they are from unrelated orders.
Ants and termites tunnel into taproots and stems. Plants wilt and often collapse. Ants also colonize aphid infested plants. Ants protect aphids from predators, and aphids supply ants with honeydew. Leafcutter ants cut pieces of leaves and carry them off to underground nests. Leafcutter ants can devour entire marijuana plants, leaving only roots. Leafcutter ants are nocturnal and can destroy several plants a night.
