Another Newbie without a clue

Hey all, im in need of some help this is my second grow and im having problems yet again

Im using a 1000w light, growing in coco, using Canna coco nutes, rhizo and have a constant fan running to draw air through during lights on. Room is definatly dark during "off" cycle and fan runs for 15 mins every 45 mins during lights off. I hand water every second day @ 1.6ppm and 5.8PH

My question is my bud dont seem to be filling out they grow but dont build and form into monsters. Last time 2 of the 6 had one crown monster each and thats it. The chit is dynamite to smoke but just doesnt seem to have a high yeild, im thinking that the genetics are to old and i need to get new ones.

please any help suggestions will ease my pain

most varieties of weed will only have one main cola if left to grow naturally. to create more colas and get more yield you want to top your plants. read up in growfaq and stickies but basically you just pinch off the main growth tip and two will take its place. this will slow down the growth of the main stem and allow some side branches to get to the top of the canopy.

I tipped them 2 times before i turned the light cycles, i have lots of branches with lots of buds but they just dont wanna fill out.

I have lost my mentor to cancer, he passed a few months ago and now im stuck he taught me the basics but he used to come past and tell me how to fix stuff.

Are you adding nutes like bloom plus or anything to help the buds thicken up and home made co2 will help..I thought the coco nutes were better for veg but i may be wrong. Desert Rat is good he knows his shit.. im not novice but not pro either so I only know what ive been experimenting on or have done with my buddies plants.. One dude had the same problem.. once he added the co2 it got larger more dense nugs.. hope I helped even if just a little bit.. k, tried the easy fix.

first, what are you assuming is a decent yield?? an ounce a plant is pretty good for a noobie. with the 1000 watt light, one grow under your belt, and six plants you might expect 12 ounces. i took a survey of noobie growers recently and the yield ranged from .5 ounce to 4.5 ounces per plant.

second, are you using the recommended amount of nutes?

third, you should consider adding molasses to fatten up the buds.

finally, do you have the light as close to the plants as you can without burning them?

if not one of these things, i would tend to agree with you that the seeds are too old or the variety has low yield.

First grow with my mentor helping i got about 2 pounds off 6 plants.

I vary the nutes over the growth stage starting at 1.0 then move slowly to to 1.8 then back to 1.4.

light was to close at one stage but is ok now. I used Canna PK in week 5.
Im in week 7 of the flower cycle but it still looks like i need another 3 weeks to fill them out !

They are clones and im unsure if it just that they have been cloned to much.

Any other suggestions peoples ?
