Another "help me, my baby is dieing" thread

Indoor stealth grow all CFLs
Temps 78-82 f
Soil
Watered every other day
Lights 2x 6500k 26w and 2x 2700k 13w on 18/6

First pick is one of my babies 2 days ago. Last night it looked the same as in this first picture. Right after I took that picture I used a wire tie to move the second plant over so it wouldn't block the light. Tonight I was shocked to find a shriveled dead leaf (pictures 2 and 3). What's happened? What can I do?

do you check ph to be around 6.5-7?
water every other day you say, they need it? the soil 2 inches of top gets dried? overwatering can cause a lot of problems
Lights in my opinion is not enough you need about 50 watt per plant and the most important is in what space you are growing if it is very big you need more watt. cfl lights 1-2 inches from your plant.
in what week are you?
any nuts?

I put them in their current pots 5 days ago, the soil was really wet so they I didn't water them for 3 days. The soil pulled away from the pot but it was still quite heavy on the 18th. I gave them about 1/2 cup of water each and again last night. The PH of my water is just under 7.

My cab is a stealth 2 drawer file cabinet, pretty small. I only expect to smoke one or two of these ladies. I'm trying to keep them all alive for now, as I'm completely new to this.

Today is day 21 from sprout. I'm growing from bag seed so I'm not sure what to expect. Does it seem like they should be a lot bigger?

That happened in only 2 days? Wow. Did you have anything on your hands while you were touching them? It's not a deficiency, i can tell you that much(although they are showing problems). Honestly, I don't know what the problem is. If it were a fungus, it would take more than 48 hours to cause that kind of damage, and it if was a deficiency, it wouldn't just effect on side of the plant. Have you ever used that soil before? That's one of the crappiest-looking growing mediums I've seen in awhile(sorry man.lol),(terrible drainage, questionable PH, etc...) and if it isn't the problem right now, it will be. Be warned...transplant while it's still early, and they might still have a chance.

That wasn't much help, was it?LOL I have no idea what would cause that damage, unless you did it yourself, somehow.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head. I'm guessing I had some kind of oil on my hands. I specifically remember rubbing that leaf, feeling texture. They felt fine. This may have not been so bad but I've also cooked them. The wife opened the air vents to the storage room, heating it. The temp was a constant 63 in the room and 78 in my box. Tonight the temp was 100. So I've been cooking them for two days.

The soil does suck, I mixed in about 1/3rd by volume, small pebbles (for fish tanks) with the soil to help it drain. My ONLY other option in any local store is MG with time released nutrients.

See my grow here.

Well, I will say that the MG soil isn't as bad as everybody makes it out to be. I used it for my first 4 grows(about 50 plants), and the only problem i ever had with the soil was fungus gnats that I think were in the soil when i bought it. The store left it sit out in the rain and heat all summer, and i think that's why it got the gnats. Anyway...I used it straight for the first two grows, and for the last two i added a shitload of perlite, and it worked great. Oh yeah, i also added a cup of pelletized lime(per bag) to the last two grows to help stabilize PH. I cloned with it, too, and never had a problem. I don't know what all those guys with all the trouble do to their soil, my only guess is that they add nutes and burn them or cause lockout. Seriously, if you think the soil isn't up to the task, I'd switch to MG. If you can't find any perlite, use those rocks, it will definitely help. Also, I never used the organic soil, I used to regular potting mix with the time-released ferts. The plants will burn up those nutes in about a month if they are growing well, then it's time to add a little. I'm not saying to go out and make the switch, all i'm saying is that it can work well. That choice is your's to make. :)
