Hows it going? I'm an oz grower, indoor mostly but outdoor too when the sun shines. Thinking of building an LED light and google points me here so I'll be skimming the lighting forums. Keen to shoot the breeze with aussie growers too

Go with a cob mate cree 100w diodes or something close with a nice heat sink and cooling fan , leave it open and build onto a rack, China is the go to for these items , I splurged a while back and got a spider 432 w from twilight which uses cree 100s x 4 and have been friggen happy with the internodal spacing for veggin moms and new additions to the flower room :peace::spew:

Welcome to the forums bud. Citizen and Bridgelux have newer cobs at the moment. Though, Cree has another line on the way.

I got mine from Cutter Electronics. And theres another good site that offers prebuilt rigs called Timbergrowlights.

Purple power on the right is my old box. And the big white bugger is my new model. 90w purple. 180w in 3500k Vero 29C.20170706_162331.jpg

Cheers for the response guys, I've been planning a strip build and ordered a bunch of parts for my little tent. Still waiting on a couple of bits and pieces to get here though. I live in the sticks and it takes a while.

I looked at the cutter kits nugachino but thought strips would be a better fit for my piss ant tent

I started in an ice cream container outdoors. After losing a couple plants. I went indoors. Didn't get much from my first indoor run. Probably 12g now that I think about it. But at last I'd made it to harvest. Last run got me 13 nice fat heads. No idea on the weight. Because I kept smoking it. Haven't a clue what this round will give me. I'm trying new methods. And still having hiccups with my plants.

These guys and gals will have you sorted though. They got me to where I am now.

Before this place. I didn't even know only females are useful if you want smoke. I didn't know how to train my plants. And had no Idea how to build a grow space. Let alone a light.

I'd grown outdoor for years but had to move inside after having kids. Not as easy to take off to the bush to tend things when you have the little tackers in tow. I like the idea of LEDs cos our power costs a bomb and they run cool in summer

I'm all for LEDs. But they've still got to catch up a bit on the penetration front. All of my buddies use HID lights. I didnt want to follow that same path.

First I bought the over priced blurple cob. Sure it's tuneable on the outputs. And has a nice frame. But, it's not worth the $350 paid. Not for just 90w of output.

These guys showed me countless builds and grows done with white COBs. Now I've got 180w of light. And can pick parts to build my own now.

I've been growing for less than a year. But been smoking for more than two. And a bit here and there in earlier years. I decided after getting a bunch of seeds and being tired of paying too much. To start growing my own.
