Anesthesia and Marijuana

Does pot really make a difference if you will be put to sleep by general anesthesia?

I've been looking around but only found some crazy tales of death.

I've never personally tried smoking the day of an operation. But I definitely was at my heaviest point of usage and had an insane amount left in my system when I had surgery. They said it wouldn't effect the anesthesia to have it in my system. Seems like everything is fine now. I don't think I'm dead...

The last couple surgeries I had I told the anesthesiologist that I use cannabis, they always said that it's OK?

Yeah, I asked my doc when I had my tonsils removed, I was golden brown that whole day. perfectly fine.

The high from cannabis can affect the cardiovascular system and potentially how they manage your vitals. Just don't go to your surgery high. Don't smoke for 24 hrs prior if you want to be safe.

ive had 2 knee surgeries and told them im a heavily smoker/user. she said its no problem, but thanks for letting us know.

they put me under using "Twilight". make sure you ask before they put you under for a pill to calm your stomach down. and DO NOT drink or eat the ice cubes too fast after waking up. you WILL get very sick on the ride home and ruin your floor mats.
