an avid smoker sick of dealers looking for first time help

hey guys,

long time smoker, first time grower. Basically, my economic situation, run ins with dealers, and the quality of herb that I've been getting have just made buying from dealers not worth while. however, i still love the plant. I have decided that as a summer project im going to try to grow my own. I've looked all over the net as well as watched high times' ready, set, grow series and read indoor marijuana horticulture. the problem i'm having htough is that all of these sources provide information on how to set up a growing enterprise. All im trying to do is modestly grow a few plants for my own consumption. I have a closet space of 2' x 9' x 4' that i plan to use to grow. However, like i said, i only want to grow a couple of plants at a time. What exactly would i need to set up a grow room in this environment? would i have to partition the closet or is too big of a space not much of a worry? just please outline step by step exactly all the things i'd need and exactly how to set it up. thanks for your time.

you should use about 100 watts of CFL per plant.

First timer.. I would get yourself some Autoflowering femenised seeds, a few 2 gallon pots. A 400watt MH/HPS complete grow light from HTG supply for about 200 bucks, and some cheep nutes. Thats about it.

umm yeah... i realize that much. i need the specific details. what lights? how many watts? how many plants can i grow? what fans and where to install them? how to set up a watering schedule? im not an idiot i realize the basic needs for growing. it's just ive never grown nething before, let alone marijuana. And especially have i never attempted to grow anything in doors in a closet.

oh ya, Dirt Foxfarms is good. But Miricle grow organic will work fine for you.

thanks islandgreenguy that helps. umm the thing about a 400 watt HPS light is that i hear its for an area covering about 4' x 4'. the thing is, though i have such a massive space, i really only want to grow about three plants. will that amount of light be sufficient or should i try to section off an area about 4' x 4'?

The easy way is the wrong way. Look around this forum before asking anymore questions. We all did it.

yeah the only reason i ask here is because ive spent an adequate amount of time looking these things up. problem is, i couldn't find answers for my specific situation so i thought i'd just ask straight out. I'm in the UK btw, so if any of u guys have suggestions on where to get supplies here, that'd be great.

p.s. no im not english so don't think of ragging on me. I'm just a yank stuck on this damned island :S

400 is good for that space. I would use it. Infact I did. I certainly isn't overkill. Plus using florestent tubes wouldn't be a bad idea, I just think one light is much easier. Plus, HID will give you better looking buds and a bigger yield. Some will argue that with me, But I don't care, HID is the way.

ok man here you go your first going to need to germinate the seeds which is take six paper towels put your seeds inbetween but spread out a few inches from eachother I would buy feminized seeds so you dont have to worry about male plants and especially its your first grow now your going to dampen the paper towel and put it somewhere dark from 24 hours all the way up to 7 days possible some of the seeds will take within 24 hours some might take a whole week now the seed is going to crack open and your going to see something come out like a thick vine almost well anyway your next step is to plant the seed right after you notice the seed has cracked open dig about 3 inches and plant the seed usually in a cup then when the plant reaches a few inches plant it in a 12inch usually about a 5 gallon pot and your going to need light lots of flurencent bulbs anyhting over 100watt but ideal 600watt if you have 2 plants I would get 2-3 bulbs etc...you water the plant 150ml pf water a week about 21-22ml a day for soil your looking for organic soil with a ph of about 6-7.5 is great the pot should be 75% soil with 25% perlite and your going to need miracle grow plant food and lots of things to refelct light if you have white walls thats good I would also suggest putting white paper or tin foil at the bottom of the plant and veg for about 2-4 weeks which means about 18 hours of light a day then after that about 12 hours of light a day then you have you weed

if money is an issue CFL can do it, i dont have the money to purchace a proper HID setup

In the UK, I dont know any suppliers. Their must be a grow shop in the UK. if not, just order a 400w HPS with a MH conversion bulb from HTG supply. Paint the walls flat white. Use 2 gallon pots of a good organic potting mix. Make sure it has adaquit amounts of Perlite in it (those white foam looking peices you see). I would plant 5 feminized Auto floweing seeds (Lowlife Ak47xBlueberry F1) You can search the strains seeds review threads for suppliers. Keep the lights on 20 hrs and off for 4. Feed them when the soil gets dry down about 2-3 inches.

search the internet for local hydroponic shops. they got all the good stuff fuck commercial retailers.

True, true. Plus with CFLs you will save on Electricity as well.

You should be using a good Nutrients solution like Advanced or foxfarms, but being this is your first grow, I would just get something cheep Like Jacks classic 20-20-20. And feed them like 1/8 what they suggest. Increase it by about 1/8 teaspoon per gallon, every time you water. No Nutes for the first few weeks.

Really? you grow marijuana and never thought of using HID lighing?
Is this thread a JOKE.....

I yield alot more with HID because I'm using like 4 times the wattage of CFLs. the yeild is double or triple in some cases.
