So far I haven't been able to find a jewelry loupe close by and im trying to see if my girls are ready. With my camera and high zoom in am starting to see amber tricombs on the small leaves around the bud, not on the bud itself. Does that mean anything? I've heard when u start seeing those it's time but this is my first harvest so not certain. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

All the radio shacks near me shut down. I found em at a hydro shop but the closest one is about 45 minutes from me. Just hoping to figure out a way to tell without going to get one. I do appreciate the response though!

if your camera can see amber, you are getting close

i cut off a sugar leaf off a top bud, a middle bud and a bottom bud. if i see some amber on all 3, she gets cut in 3 days.

kinda hard to tell in that pic. you really want a majority of cloudy: like 80% cloudy, 10% amber, 10% clear.
Yeah definitely hard to tell in that pic. I've just started seeing the amber tricombs and wanted to make sure I'm not waiting till to late... i think I may have a little time though.

Ughhhh yeaaa, I don't see any of your leaves yellowing, you have at least two weeks
We'll hopefully they do a lot more growing then. Lol. Thanks for your input!

What type of lighting do you use? I only ask because I couldn't see any ambers with my HPS light on. Checked with them off and I had between 5-10%.

I got several cheap loupes. They work okay but ended up just buying a digital scope. Waaaaay easier. And you can take pics by just pressing a button. Has Led lights built in. I paid $25 for mine. One of the best investments I have ever bought. I have found many uses for this little baby.
Something like this. Mine is by supereyes. Mine also goes to 500X

I have one of those too, and that the main instrument I use to determine tich development. I cut a very small sample, as flat as possible, like a sugar leaf tip and put it on a flat dark surface and put the scope over it where the sample fits in the clear housing of the scope. You can get a much better overall view that way, and really see the stages of the trics!

My hps room will throw false amber positives. Certain positions trichs will appear amber, but their not. Cover the area with your hand to block the light when looking at trichs.
