Amber trichs at 4 weeks!

So they are 4 weeks into flower today and I'm drooling over the recent explosion of trichs with my 30x and I see amber all over one of the buds. WTF? I'd say at least 20% or more. Just on the top. The hairs on several of the buds have been going orange for a while now but that didn't concern me. Anyone ever had this happen?

It's bagseed so I don't know. They were vegged for 8 weeks so 3 months today. They did start showing quite a few hairs on 18/6...but definitely were not going to go full flower. They're sleeping now so pics tomorrow. I'd say maybe a really early finishing strain but the rest of the plant and plants look pretty normal for their age as far as I can tell.

ok i just found this...so not too unusual I guess.

"if it's still growing it's still producing new resins. often trichs will turn amber way before the bud is ready. most people trim a leaf to check trichs. the leaves ripen first so of course the trichs there will be amber. this does not mean the plant is finished. I read of growers that have had plants that have amber trichs at 5 weeks flowering. Thats too young"

It must be an indica, no? Even if the leaves show at 4 weeks before the bud, that sounds way too early. I know of some indicas finishing in 6.5-7 weeks. Are your leaves really fat or really thin?

Yea definitely in-between. I had a skunk strain AND a 50/50 haze-unknown indica cross with the same exact leaf structure. But both of those leaned to the heavy sativa side when it came to flowering time, like 10-12 weeks.

From those pics alone, you got maybe 4 more weeks conservatively. But shit, that's not an accurate prediction considering you got amber already. And like you said, if the trichs regenerate, maybe longer. TBH, I don't think I can help you. I've never experienced early amber.

It happens, not too often, but it happens.

From the pics you got at least 4 weeks to go minimum.

I'd say 4-8 weeks, hard to call based on minimal info.

Good luck!

Yea, wait for the calyx swell and pistils turning red before chop. As was said, the leaves get amber trichs before the buds, so wait on the buds to amber up.

Those plants are nowhere near harvest and even if they do have trichs I would bet cash that those wouldnt even get you high yet.

oh no...i wasn't thinking of chopping! And um...I did dry a little popcorn bud from the under growth and smoke it. Holy SHITE.

For the life of me I can't take good pics of the amber!! They are mostly only on one side of the bud. Can you cook it with CFL's? LOL
In this pic if you save and zoom in you can see on the leaf to the right and the top of the top leaf...both spots blurry of course. Trust me there is quite a bit!

Anyway, I've heard of chopping the tops of buds and letting the bottoms finish. That might be what happens on this plant. Not now of course :-P

BTW the other pics were from a week ago. They've all gotten quite a bit of orange since then.

Cheers!IMG_2219.jpgIMG_2220.jpg
