i am changing from ebb n flow to dwc, i am going to be using a tub 2ft by 2 1/2ft im going to cute 6 holes on top for 6 plants im using 2in rockwool cubes and clay pellets for medium in net pots i also have heavyduty air stones, now what i dont know is how far should the net pots be from the water and i dont know if i need to have a pump i have seen the dwc buckets but i want to use a tub, im not sure if i have to feed from the top or what, please any help with this would help ty

in this system would the roots just grow into the water and the air bubbles will stop it from drowning and i do not feed it from the top...is this right....im just tryen to figure out how it works

Cut an extra hole in top for you to check ph and add water and nutes.
Set your water level to where just the bottoms of net pots get wet from the bubbles. Then when you see roots growing out of net pots, lower water level.

What you wanna end up with is the end and lower roots to be in solution and upper parts of roots to be exposed.

ty to all of you for the help, so i wont need a water pump just a air pump? ty
My system is a little different but basically the same principle.
I use a top feeder until my roots are in the water, the clay balls will soak the water out of the rockwool fast, so unless your net pots are in contact with the water, I would suggest a pump to top feed.

so u think it would be good to use a top feeder till the roots hit the water then i wont have to use a pump to top feed, is that right

Yep, that's how I do it. I run mine continually until the roots hit, or you can use a timer and have it stop/start.
