Am I Right To Start Flushing Now?

a cannabis plant wasn't "born" in nature to be smoke
I would say millions of people with cancer, MS, and epilepsy who use marijuana medicinally would disagree with you.
in order for you to have a pleasant smoke you need to flush.
In order to have a pleasant smoke, you need a proper cure. Flushing does nothing but stress a plant out in an extremely important part of it's development.
and please dont use the "us" term in a 2 person discussion you look like my son , that is 6 years hold.
*six years old - You do realize there are other people in this thread involved in this discussion, don't you? This is a public forum.
for years flushing has been done and its still beeing done by every comercial hydroponic grower in holland for example
Please provide a citation for this.
i already told i will have no further argument about this flush thing
You never had a solid argument to begin with.

1st- i don't know what medicinal cannabis have a thing to do with my argument about the propose of cannabis , for sure that you dont want to tell me that the propouse of mother nature for cannabis is to be smoke right ? cause if you are i dont really know what to tell you.
it's one thing that we use it for its bennefics its another to tell that it was ment to be smoke .. that's just ... nonsense.

2nd. about the flush too much has already been told.

3nd-yes there is older people involved but my argument about the languages was with you . soo there is no need for you to trying to get back up by saying "us" . cause i was arguing with you , and no one else. simple as that.

4th. go to youtube and search for greenhouse grow sessions and see how its done. that is the common pratice by hydropincs growing in holland.

No it doesn't and , its totally spot on , its your analogy that is stupid , a cannabis plant wasn't "born" in nature to be smoke, so in order for you to have a pleasant smoke you need to flush it if you are using too much salt based nutes , but anyway this is like explaining math to a donkey , so i will have no further discussion about this topic.
Have a nice die.
sorry, but you ARE the DONKEY

Look, Donkey, don't be wishing death. Berry, berry, wuud.

You are fouled up if you think you understand this.

The entire idea about flushing salt is wrong. We use salt, in order to make the ions available.

NO PLANT CONSUMES SALT.

that the first sign of desperation using the "us" in a 2 person discussion, but i get it you trying to get people on your side .

i already told i will have no further argument about this flush thing , you do your thing i do mine. and for years flushing has been done and its still beeing done by almost every comercial hydroponic grower in holland for example , check out the GreenHouse grow sessions and you see it.
On another related topic...doesn't that offense about my grammar getting old ? i already told you i'm not from america or any native english country , so don't you feel dumb by offending someone that actually puts you in a pocket when its comes to linguistic diversity?
And people still jump off the Golden Gate bridge. Do you want to know why people come here from all over to kill themselves?

Those dirty hippies in Holland will say anything for a buck. And the more you can complicate a process for others, the more money you can make on them.

And please explain this effect if has? If you eat it green, it won't do much. So the idea this is to ward off predators doesn't make sense. Spines is how plants ward off predators. Deer will eat this stuff.

I can say it is a bit off topic, but in Botany we have no idea why THC, a mammal euphoric, but only after heated, could end up in there. So, I don't necessarily believe in "reasons" for things.

I will go with Our Blind Luck, we have da kine.

I am no longer a believer in flushing (3X pot volume of water) for flavor and smoothness, but I do see flushing as a legitimate, albeit stressful, solution for removing excess salt from the root zone. I agree that plants do not consume salt, but in high doses in the root zone I believe too much salt sets off a reverse osmosis reaction that pulls moisture out of the plant, effectively killing it. If I am wrong on this, a correction would be appreciated. I have assumed this is why many of the synthetic nute labels recommend a flushing, because maybe they know they are recommending nute levels that are pretty crazy high.

The one time I personally experienced this is when I moved to a new house that had all of it water going through a salt based water softener, combined with use of synthetic nutes. My pots did not reach critical levels of salt content until late in flowering so it was a painful lesson.

So for me, flushing would be a last resort option for someone trying to finish a plant that had been overfed or wound up in fouled soil.

If you define flushing as going water only the last couple weeks, I think it is a more nuanced situation where people who have overfed will probably benefit and those with well managed plants will not.

Well, that is different. I will certainly run RO water through my containers every month, and then give a good feed.

But, that is not what they mean by flushing. The planting media can build up salt, but the plant cannot. There is simply no way I know of to "overfeed." I can stunt and damage them with too much PPM. But there is no way to Rinse that back out.

A salt based water softener is worse than just using hard water.

At least we don't introduce Sodium. OTH, it is much easier to RO water that has been softened.

I think you are right. The house I grew up in had a salt based water softener and the only plant we could keep alive year after year was a fern, so perhaps there is something different about a fern's tolerance for salted soil? Everything else died in pretty short order and we never understood why.

If RM3 is around still can I get a link to the boiling water post. I've got 8 plants coming down next week I'd like to try it on a couple of them.
