Alternatives to Mason jars?

Anybody cure their bud in containers other than Mason jars? My buddy uses a small cooler. I am about to begin curing for the first time and would like to know the pros and cons.

You need an air tight container and a cooler is not really air tight. I use 1/2 gal mason jars

That's what I thought, but that's what he always uses. Does a lot of other sloppy things, in my opinion.

I have an airtight 5 gal bucket I was thinking of using.

Are all of your plants the same strain if so one bucket will do but if you have a couple different kinds I would try to keep them separate so smell and taste don't mix together. Good Luck

No, they aren't the same strain, I was wondering about that too. I was thinking about using paper or cardboard or something as dividers in the bucket to keep them straight but I didn't think about mixing flavours.

Screw it! I'm going to the Co-op today to buy the real thing.

Thanks for the input, Bob.

Are there any negative sides about using tupperware? Seems to be an easy and efficient alternative to a bunch of little jars.

supposedly the theory says that plastic is reactive to the chemicals that the weed gives off as it cures. glass on the otherhand is not it is 100 percent sterile and neutral. i dont know but i cure in canning jars the 1 quart widemouths.

That's right along the lines I figured the argument for glass would follow. But then, how many foodstuffs, etc are stored in plastic. We even put the weed into plastic baggies following the cure, so I don't know.

I think I'm still going for the mason jars, however.

Simply put, the crystals will stick to the sides of the bag and not be easy to get off. with a jar its quite easy to preserve every last bit of goodness.

Not curing in a bag Zeus, I meant like when you buy a bag of weed. But would there be any difference in curing in a similarly sized tupperware vs mason jar? Probably flavourwise to a small degree, probably not as healthy either, but who knows. I'm not going to bother using the 5 gal bucket I was considering mostly because it is too large and I don't want to damage the buds, so I'm picking up a case of jars tonight.

i dont think theres too much of a price difference in mason jars and tupperware so im not sure why anyone would want to use it. at the local grocery store they sell 12 packs of mason jars for fairly cheap.
