Alternating nodes?

Quick question ( I tried looking it up didn't find much )
Out of all four of my plants this is the only branch that has alternating nodes.
I've seen this before on other peoples plants but I've never known why it does it? is it maturity, strain, stress or something along those lines? Here take a look

^^^^Yes.

When your plant gets bigger, and starts forming more side shoots and growth, the tops will eventually begin alternating. Most strains anywhere from 1-3 months. Take a look at the stem of a nice fat bud... nothing but alternating the whole way.

Is this a good thing?

My mothers are from bag seed and they have beautiful double nodes, but ALL thier clones have alternating nodes.

I can't seem to get a good double cola going on a plant that has alternating nodes.

My mothers have given thier last clones and now the New Mother/Clones are taking over the job of donating.

Can I get the double nodes back or are they gone forever?

all internodes (early on) are alternating. the term you're looking for is staggered internodes, which is a sign of maturity.

alternating nodes are a sign of maturity, which is why all of your clones have them.. clones are technichlly the same age as the mother plant that they came from, so most of the time clones will start out with alternating nodes and not even nodes like a plant from seed will because it is technichly how ever old that the plant you took the clone from..

i read something that said that hormones will change in a mother plant over time and that it makes them harder to clone, but i dont know if theres any validity to it.

You can keep a strain around for as long as you want. Grow your mother out to desired maturity, take clones, flower the mother, & veg the clone.....repeat. I've done this about ten times now with the same strain.
