(Almost) Nine Years @ RIU!

I'm just a week shy of celebrating 9 years here at the forums. Thought it would be a good time to toss out some tidbits I have accumulated.........

*Changed the way I germinate seeds with paper towels. Now I use 4 layers of pt under the beans and just one layer on top. I'm convinced I'm losing fewer seeds due to them drowning during germing.

*"Found" a new strain I really like, T H Seeds Critical Hog. Curing 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 oz/per with just 61/2 weeks flowering. Great product!

*Once in a while when I grow autos I put 2 plants in each final pot. The plants grow into each other and make the pot a lot more stable.

*Wintertime humidities means I have to pay more attention while drying product. Realized this when I found myself re-hydrating some crispy critter a lot more often.

*Necropsies on failed clone attempts shows me that there is a balance point to find that keeps the pellets not too dry and not too wet. Have lost clones on both sides.

*Finding a seed or 2 in feminized plants isn't always a bad thing. If the seeds turn brown they can be used and often generate a lot of weight.

*If you water every day you will never hurt a flowering plant.

Good luck, BigSteve.

I remember plus - and minus - rep. The new system is better.

I remember the old RIU before the migration to the new software platform. The new one is better.

RIU today has trolls, but it did then as well.

This is still where i network and make friends around the world; that hasn't changed.

Good question
I remember early on there was a lot of emphasis on education and new technologies. We saw a lot of youtube how-to videos and it seems that participation back then was more active. We were always filling out polls or voting on procedure or light questions. I'm seeing a lot of "experts" answering questions they don't seem to understand.

I've been smoking pot since 1964 so I am comfortable as the OG of the crowd and mostly enjoy just watching (?) people interact online. Never a dull moment.

Merry Christmas!
BigSteve.
