Ok so my grow is totally secret. I met this guy, and decided to let him do some extra yardwork. After listening to the guy complain about the money, I was about to say screwoff! Then he looks at me and says that theres a sweet smell around. Maybe the police would be interested? I ceased relations with the guy and shut everything down.

Damn thats some heavy shit !!! I would have clocked him tho for threatening but then he would have probably go straight to the police so good call staying calm in that situation.
Stay safe!!

i have seen mentioned that carbon filters reduce smell, not eliminate smell

Clearly he wasn't very street smart. Threatening to "rat" somebody out is dangerous business. Sure, you've got the one guy doing it as a hobby, but suppose he says that to somebody that uses cultivation as their livelihood? Dangerous stuff.

Yes I played dumb, like "I have no clue what your talking about". Then I shifted the conversation back to the fact he was unhappy about money. Told him I'd take care of him. Then as soon as I got rid of him, I shut everything down.

Yes carbon scrubbing is essential. I went with a smaller 4" fan and filter combo. But I think I need to invest in a better one, if it didnt hide my single blueberry plant!

And the funny thing is, I decided to do a web search on the dude after he threatens me, and up pops the dudes mugshot. Now why didnt I check that before I gave the guy the gig?

Yea thats me... the hobby guy. I dont tell no one jack. However lesson learned here. Even people in your proximity, working on your house or whatever, was all it took!

Another reason I love living in a medical state! All things aside, you really should keep a close eye on your shit now. I wouldn't put anything past someone shady like that.

Do your own damn yard work!!! That sucks to hear man. I was working in my vegetable garden outside and accidently left my garage door open. Neighbor came over to converse, and I kept getting whifs of Diesel and Kush. Then I realized my garage was open and was like, damn I hope this dude is cool. I think as long as you are on good terms with the person, they have little reason to go out of their way to see you jailed.

With that being said, better safe than sorry for sure! I know my neighbors fairly well, and they know I'm a good citizen, in college, full-time job etc...I think a pissed off yard man would be a bit of a different situation.

To put your mind at ease, the police need a lot more than a yard man's word to obtain a search warrant. They would need to obviously smell it from the street, well off your property. Or at least lie about it.

Yea I know right!? The guy seemed cool enough to make a few extra bucks in my yard. Didnt know him, called my self trying to help someone out. Doh!
There is a saying I learned and it's very true: No good turn goes unpunished. How far are your plants from finishing?

Sorry for the loss of your grow...I never let anyone onto my property during a grow cycle...no parties, no family visits, no repairman, & etc.

I am lucky enough to live in an urban area where, even if somebody snitched me out, cops wouldn't even make the time to pay me a visit. The felony limit of plants to cultivate where I'm at is 10, which kind of says something.. I think something like that really depends on where you are at, and how bored your cops are. I think you're okay though dude, he was probably just being a dickhead. Give it time, eventually he'll say that to the wrong person and he'll be getting hacked into pieces in a bathtub.
