Techno is an actual genre..hard tech also...but musically retarded people started using it as a generic term,because those syllables are hard to form for those types...

and that's why i don't like it, plus most people who know anything about techno would never use the term, they'd get more descriptive imo, house, or drum and bass, or jungle or w/e.. i just couldn't decide what sub category that song fell into..
