All things clone

well i haven't really seen a sticky thread for cloneing...so i figured i'd make one and hope it gets stickied....i just figured this might be something good for newbies to learn.....im sure you guys dont like relying on someone else to always try and find you clones or seeds to germinate....I know I don't....once you newbies find a female you like keep her and turn her into a mother....If you grow her long enough it should look like the first pic below:weed:......After you have your mother established you will need to aquire a few things....Here they are..

1. You will need your prefered medium...Coco cups and coco,
Coco plugs,Tree Bark plugs, Rockwool, and if you are useing
an aero rooter you will need either neoprene plugs, or net pots
with hydroton, marbles, lava rocks, gravel, or coco plugs....
2. You will also need a pair of clean and sharp scissors, and a clean new
razor blade...to cut your clones with.
3. You will also need some type of rooting compound...such as Clonex,
Rhizotonic, olivia's clone gel or liquid rooting compound or root tone..
4. Then you need a home for your newborn little girls....A humidome-black
tray with a big, tall clear lid, or an aero rooter...and a florescent light
5. Obviously youll need one of these..:joint: as well

I will be posting the how to part in just a few minutes i gotta udate the pc right quick:clap:

heres a cloning question, i cut my 2 fems 7 days ago, dont really see any new growth on top, but in the rockwool it looks like something may be happening with roots, but there now slightly turning yellow, but still "perky" how long does it take for roots to come out of the cubes and where you see new growth on these?

alright now to begin....I myself am using general hydroponics tree bark plugs....tryin out something new....Alright now for the work

1. get your trays for your coco plugs or rockwool ready and cleaned out.
The flat of tree bark plugs had to but cut but it is mass easy to do
with just a pair of house hold scissors...I only did this because i have a
tray that has individual sites built into it.....u can just do a straight
slab if you like....
2. fill the empty holes with root plugs and let soak in water, or ph'd water
with rhizotonic or a clone solution mixed in it. do the same for
rockwool users...some people let em soak for 20 minutes others wait
over night....
3. now its time to pay your mama plant a visit and thin her out...different
people cut their babies at different lengths...i kinda like mine long..just
check out the pics below make sure when you cut your clone you use
a new blade and cut at a 45 degree angle...feel free to cut off the
extra leaves not needed.
4. pour a little clonex or rooting compound in a shot glass or a lid..dip
the bottoms of your little girl in the clonex...then firmly push your
clones in your medium of choice....i still use clonex in my aerorooter
so the process is the same for aero rooters.
5. spray your girls down with a water bottle...i even mix just a hint of
rhizo in my spray bottles...place the lid on your fresh cut babies
place the tray of girlies under your floresent and just check em from
time to time....you should get roots in 5-7 day maybe even a few more

Now you should be able to take care of yourself when it comes to aquireing starts....:joint:

Hopefully this helps someone out if not oh well i just wasted some time..

Eh bro I like this thread. Dont forget the following:

Cloning in a cup of water.
permalink

Felt like I needed to expand on this subject considering other growers have begun to do this purely on my rants and raves on exactly how simple this method actually is!

First U cut the plant in the desired location.I prefer the Tops of the plants themselves(Topping). If U cut the stem be sure to leave at least one node for future growth on the stem.(Future Cloning) Or future (Bud sites)

Second Be sure to cut @ a 45 degree angle with a SHARP clean knife, shears or razor. I used a pearing knife for awhile.

Third Be sure to have a cup of water handy to place the cutting in directly upon cutting. Its Best to cut in water so air does not enter the main cutting stalk.

Fourth Scraping. This is done quickly. U want to scrape at least the bottom 1/2 inch "SKIN" off the bottom of of the main stalk of ur cutting.
THIS means removing only the OUTSIDE layer of green "SKIN".GENTLY. Just be carefull.

Fifth U can place these cuttings directly in the cup of water. Although ive been experimenting with dipping them in rooting hormone and superthrive ive had awesome results in just placing them in plain water.TAP WATER.

Sixth Cloning medium. This consists of the cup and the water. I cut my cups.( I use regular red plastic party cups found everywhere !)I cut the cups to size to be sufficient enuff to brace the tops of the cuttings (SIZE of cuttings).Meaning, the upper fan leaves dwell on the top of the cut cup.

Seventh This is the last step. WATER LEVEL IN CUP. I put enuff water in my cup to completely cover the area which I scraped. Usaully 1/2 inch to a quarter. THIS water is CHANGED AND WATCHED daily.

Reason being. Cutting drink lots of water sometimes so stay on top keep ur water level consistent. Changing ur water only enstills U are taking every action neccesary to be sure ur water will not stagnate on ur new babies.

Its that simple hope this clears up things for a few people. Its very simple.

I hope you guys like my little side experiment...ive got a few goin on right now:weed:

Wont produce anything. The plant has to continue growth from the node... Ultimately, the same thing will happen to your leaf cuttings as my dead node clone. It has continued to support itself, and live- even though it cannot grow any more.

No node = no new growth.

Still interesting thought though.

thanks for your post...you did exactly what i was hoping....showed some people some new shit....i started this thread to show the most common way...i was hoping people would chime in with their own ideas and findings...i don't claim to know everything and all help is appreciated...im gonna try your water method and post some pics of it unless you wanna...:weed:

What would be interesting to see if after a certain amount of time, will a dead node plant find a way to force a new node out or branch out in a desperate attempt to continue growing. So far it's not looking like it will happen. I've had my dead node cutting for about 30 days and it's just continuing to live... not grow. I'll definitely be keeping it around though.

I think its a great idea Toke. Just remember that cuttings take longer to clone depending on what stage of growth they are in and if ur going to clone in a cup of water then follow the rules i set forth.Ive had plants from seedlings develope good root structure during mid stages of veg growth, clone this way in as little as 2-3 days. Ive tried all kinds of methods of cloning but this was the simpleist one to master. With the least procedures i guess. I currently tried a new way suggested by OLD in the way and am pleased to say that ive gotten great results in a dome using peat plugs. Still this thread is great I think.
