I disagree. I wouldn't do it past 2 weeks though, and would probably try to do it at/by day 10-12.

If you think you have health problems, I wouldn't start trimming anything. You'll do better filling in your buds by getting your girls healthy, not cutting the bottom off. That kind of stuff is to increase quality yield on already healthy plants.
sounds like you do agree...:-P

I edited it out because I realized it would be taken that way. Saying not to trim if you're trying to flower is just too broad a statement so I don't agree with it. I do agree that nubbis shouldn't trim though. IMO the deficiency is the only reason he shouldn't.

Hey guys, quick question. What do you think about me trimming off all the bottom branches on my plants that don't get light. They are almost 2 weeks into flowering. No buds, or sex yet. I am dealing with a mg deficiency I believe. Do you think this would be too much stress?

i was talking about his situation not in general ;) i trim too...won't harm a healthy plant...but only trim during flowering ...not cut branches off.

There's a lot of people successfully trimming further into flowering than that. I personally wouldn't do it beyond 2 weeks and would aim to have it done by day 10ish, but it can still be useful at his stage.

It just sounded like a general statement so I made a general statement in response. Keeping it to his specific situation though, yes we're on the same page :leaf: <trimmed off this leaf 3 weeks into flower :bigjoint:

i know a guy who gets 2.5 grams a watt in coco and he defoliates continuously through his veg and flower cycle

the plants end up with very few fan leaves by the end, but he says its a gradual process you build up and if you have not done this, he would say only defoliate if you need to, but do some to make air movement with in the plant leaves and branches better

I agree that it would be added stress. I was just wondering because my biggest plant is getting little to no light at the bottom. I guess I should just leave it the way it is then. Anyway. I am waiting on a 400 watt MH light to get here around next week. I might convert it to HPS. Not sure. I want to see how well the MH works first. It will be a very big improvement to what I have for lights now, HPS or no HPS. Hopefully with the light upgrade I won't have to trim any branches and such because with the new light there will be enough to reach all parts of the plant. :D By the way I just started treating the mg deficiency with a bit of epsom salt. Not too sure how well this works, but I guess I will find out. I just want the ladies to be completely healthy again.

latest of my ladies. bagseed lst'd (first actual grow) and a blackjack, power kush and hawaiin snow, all of them 12 from seed (though that bagseed took 8 weeks to flower even at 12/12 and is about those same 8 weeks behind the others) Gotta thank RIU for anything I know about growing and yeah.. I got them all stuck in a 2x2 tent lmao... was hoping the first would be ready sooner (still a couple weeks at least I guess) so I could spread them out but screw it... Im doin my own thing... peace and much love.
