All My Pictures!!!

Hey lime, I have a question for you. If you don't mind. I only thought of this because I am sitting here and the light is shining through my window pretty bright and feels a bit warm. Do you think putting my plant in the light coming through the window for say an hour or two, maybe even three would have an effect on the plant? It's just a thought, and I am rather curious.
sun light is great! but has to be done little by little, so you don't shock them. its called hardening. but then you also have to worry about security ...if someone can see your plant/s through the window.

but a couple hrs a day is great! start with one hr/day...then two then three.

but don't you have your plants in a Aero-hydro system? or do you have others too?

I don't have to worry about the whole anybody seeing my plant thing, but what will "hardening" do exactly? Does it matter whether the plant is in flower or veg state? I have two plants in an aerogarden deluxe aeroponic/hydroponic system. The reservoir can be lifted from the rest of it. I could set it on any flat surface basically.

hardening just gets the plant use to the intense light/heat from the sun where your cfl's don't put out ....so you don't want to shock them...only start with one hr a day then each day you can up the time to two the next day 3..etc etc...but don't leave em in the sun too long few hrs a day max is all they need..nope don't matter if flowering or in veg its all the same.

or I could just ask it here too. I aim for a pH of 5.8 for my watering every 3 days. Today I think my pH was 5.5-5.6 (I had just woken up and only added 1 ml pH up /gallon instead of 2). This isn't a big deal... right?

ah... you linked it before I asked it. Thanks lime. Well there you go... two ways to see my question.
you can also put links into signature too .....so when you reply to threads people can just click on your link..;)

Alright, sounds good to me. Thank you for that advice. I think I am going to do this to try and get more light to every part of the plant seeing as how right now in the grow box. Light isn't getting to every part because of my lights.

exactly!..you only have 3 cfl's....for how many plants? and one of them is big!!!

cfl's best range is within inches and lumens deteriorates allot after that.

I have two plants. I know 3 cfls won't cut it, which is why tomorrow. I am 99% sure I am getting some $ so I figured I am going to invest in some lights and possibly a real hydroponic setup. I just don't know what to get for a light yet..haha. I made a thread a little while ago asking for advice on what lights/light to get, and explained how many plants I will grow and what I am looking for.

imo-hps is best for flowering...or you will need more cfl's 2700K color/orange light ...placed on sides too...to get enough light to bud sites to really kick em into forming well.

a couple of points will never hurt anything. if you used 4.0 or 8.0 it wouldnt hurt, as lime says just dont do it again.

whats your medium , lava rocks and peat moss ?

wyteboi: i'm in 60 coco / 40 hydroton.

nubbis: Lime is right. HPS is best for flowering. Also, spend the extra money on a good bulb. Hortilux, for example, has an increased red spectrum... which makes it superior for flowering than your standard HPS bulb.

almost...

hortilux super hps bulbs have an enhanced blue/green/violet spectrum resulting in tighter node spacing and a higher UV output....

i meant blue... not red. jk. I knew it was enhanced in some color spectrum which aids in flowering. I just didn't want to get off my ass to go look at the box.

well that is where you want to be at 5.8 !!!
Right. I go for 5.8 every time I water, but it was less than that by a couple-few ticks (or tenths of a tick) this morning (I can't be positive, because I didn't check... but am 90% sure it was around 5.5).

the hardest part of that is if you stop giving them all that light ..... say stick um in the sun for 4 or 5 hours a day then stop for whatever reason, that will hurt them in the long run.

if that sun is good for 4 hours a day an you can be there to tend to it, then use it. if they are healthy and have sufficiant food in the mix , then the extra sun will only help , you dont really have to work them up to it unless they are not healthy. they can use all the extra light they can get right now.

that is about the best flowering bulb to get , one with more blues. i myself use regular MH and HPS in flower because its cheaper.

you always want to shoot for a full spectrum if possible.

i like nature an in nature its only night time when the sun is as red as a hps bulb.
