Sorry if any of what I said was misinterpreted, it was meant to be a compliment. Trying to say that based on the limited info it looks like you (OMS) have a better handle on how to optimize led use.

Speaking of environment, an issue I had with some of the 60w cob butterhead did stunt but it was more of a trapping of new growth because the outer leaves were stuck to each other. You can see it a little on the one I call hydro (vermeculite and coco) in an earlier post. IMO if this was light related it was an issue of too intense, but I lean towards it being environmental. I would certainly appreciate any insight you, or the other gardeners who are posting here (who are obviously more skiled than I), have.

i wish ihad ahandle on things..we are just testing different led bars/panes in burples and whites

e hvesome cobsbuilt but have not used for sald yet..

ee have found that white 3500 k self powered led tubes work pretty good though you have to be close..

even cheap crap ch9ijna panrls work pretty good..i like tgeled tubes bes6 so far..but we do have a difinitive winner anywhere

the tubes win on nice colour, good price, and are effective

they are cheap and handy ..we hope to hook up some nichia cobs or veri b18's but have not done it..

Same high quality pelletized REX lettuce seeds. These are not supposed to be anything other than straight green!

Ran into some tip burn issues on my last MH lettuce but trying a different nutrient and grow method so need to determine which is the factor

To call a cob led a "complete" light diet for plants is clearly a false statement.
Just look at this pathetic result happening with the Vero 18 on the left. Hortilux Blue MH on the right (first pic)

I'd say it was the grower. @OLD MOTHER SATIVA 's grow doesn't look like that, either do studies done with white LEDs or red and blue LEDs (talk about an incomplete light source).

Purple where purple shouldn't be means the plant is producing anthocynanin, a pigment thought to protect against too much light. It would explain such a sad fucked up little plant, anyway. I mean, that is extremely unhappy looking, and blaming COBs doesn't make sense.

Please prove me wrong with photo documentation of some lettuce grown by yourself under cobs.
Are you saying my photo's and eyes with what I see in person are lying to me? lol

If vero18 at 16" from canopy is "too much light" there is no way cobs will work in a vertical rack system

..food for plants cames from the fish..our whites/blues /reds led bars are growing the greens pretty good too..but are higher wattage and cost a lot more than the the tubes..we do wanna try cobs raised higher for lettuce/micro greens etc
