All cloudy trichomes for indica?

So I've been reading up, and Subcool suggested that for indica heavy hybrids, and most hybrids grown today that harvesting when the trichs are mostly cloudy and even a few CLEAR ones left is ideal, to avoid the couchlock effect. That Sativas are typically where the 50% cloudy 50% amber rule is best. Ideas?

I got to mainly sativas and i had to harvest early and most of mine were cloudy with some still clear and very few ambers and,my smoke is pretty great energetic head high,im happy with that and i was worried cause they say all that amber but in my case not holding up with the 50% amber shit, maybe 70 cloudy 10 clear and 20 maybe amber!!!!

Yeah, my concern was potency. Harvesting too early and sacrificing THC. But at this point I think the work is done and it's time to chop! Reading more about what trichome color indicates for THC production helps a lot. If your plant is 90% cloudy you can really harvest anytime.

i do 3 harvests from a single plant, clear to cloudy=nice mellow head high.all cloudy to amber=all around high.cloudy going to mostly amber=couchlock stoned effect. 3 different highs 1 plant no real ill effects in harvesting like this.

Otwa, you mentioned doing staggered harvest. I want to try this since my growspace is crouded and my lower buds are much less developed (small and white haired) likely because they could not get light to them. Wondering if I could cut the top colas and then leave the rest of the plant in there for a couple of extra weeks. With the big top colas gone, light should be able to penetrate to the lower buds. Anyway, to do this I would guess I would have to flush the whole plant, (then cut the top colas for drying) and then re-nute the res. to continue feeding the remaining buds on the plants. Then I guess I would need to flush again to harvest the remainder. Correct?

Another quick question for anyone out there. My trich count seems pretty low for this strain. Using 3-part AN and was using some Big Bud for weeks 3 to 6 for Bubba OG, which is generally an 8-wk flower. Anything (like Ca Ching?) I could add in wks 7-8 to help the trich situation?

Im confused i thought 50%amber50%milky was for indicas and 90% milky was best for sativas

:bigjoint:Definately an experience thing, you can read all the posts and look at all the pics u want, but until you gain personal experience by growing you're going to always be left wondering....

Thinking that reading some posts and growing killer bud overnight just is not going to happen. Just like anything the more you do it the better you're going to get at it. I've been growing for several years and still feel like a noob. With my last harvest I think that I finally figured out that yes I definately harvested too early in almost every one of my past grows.

Just remember how long youve waited already and all the other shit that was involved with it, All im sayin is once you cut it down after all the however many months youve been growin it you cant put it back up for that extra week or so for it to totally finish. Just my opinion, if you know the kind of high you like then go for it. Good luck, worst case scenario; you gain a learning experience out of it and you got some trees to smoke, BTW thats a dam good lookin plant man you did it up right

A question for you or anyone else while we're on the subject, lets say you have to flower a plant for nine weeks as suggested- is it nine weeks after you switch to 12/12 or nine weeks after the plant shows sex? And is it true that the trichromes will continue to mature during the drying and or curing phase? Been seein alot of people that know their shit on this thread wondering your opinion/ knowledge on these subjects

Generally, the seed bank is going to give you an average maturity time based on when you go to 12/12. I am a med user and have bad chronic pain and have learned that the later I harvest before the thc starts to degrade is the best for pain with an Indica dominant strain. I have never grown a Sativa dominant strain as the Indica is better for my pain management.

i can quote 1 experience of trics changing during the cure/time

this what a nl looked liked at harvest - lot of clear because didn't want the couchlock

and this what it looked like later, lots of golden yellow

Thats pretty wild, is that normal or abnormal? Quite a swing goin from mostly clear to mostly amber. Some dank lookin bud bro, i hope mine does that, i use heavy indicas for pain management, my L5 disc is herniated in my back and i get nerve pain too. I just chopped down 2 plants from my first ever grow, i have a med card, as soon as some dries im gonna make some tinctures, see if they work, thanks for the reply bro 1

yeah, i thought it was pretty wild myself - not sure how normal/abnormal this is
so i posted a thread asking if anyone had checked out their trics before and after cure
got a few posts, someone did say they had noticed this some potent strains, that is seeing golden yellow trics
i don't think they are really amber, but not quite sure
anyhow, it does have plenty of kick and did work out for me
i do have a bit of lower back pain, also a bit of depression, anxiety, and insomnia - quite the mix
basically, i'd describe as an indica you can smoke early in the evening, doesn't put you to sleep right away, but does hit pretty hard
tell you the truth, it was far better for anxiety, and seemed to help on the insomnia
pain relief is fair, better on other things actually
the 1st time puffing it was a little overwhelming, it was 'hang on to the couch for dear life' kind of high
took a little while to get used to it, i wasn't really looking for that kind of head rush, but i shouldn't have been surprised with all the clear trics

im with the i.,.,i like having difrent smokes.,.,and if u dont have many breeds in the closet,ect.,.,then u can do multiple harvest off one plant .,.,usually the plants not all ready at once anyway.,.,also this is a go0d way of gauging when to harvest a particular strain.,.,forward

huh, would you look at that...

I'm finishing up some NL from marijuana-seeds.nl. I took off a top last week so to keep myself from chopping the whole batch, and as its dried out, I've found whole patches of trichomes turning golden yellow, exactly like in your picture. I would love to know a bit more about that- why it happens, what causes it, etc. Great pics :leaf:
