Please someone help me! This is ny second grow and I am out of resources! I have algae growing in my reservoir and I have tried everything! Taped where the light comes through, temp in water is 68 degrees, used 1 oz 35% h2o2 in 10 gal water, use hygrozym, and still 5 days after disinfecting and changing nutes the stuff is on my air stones again! I'm so sad! The plants look healthy besides a little yellowing of the leaves on one plant! The roots are white but not for long! I'm praying someone has an answer! Is there any hope or should I give up?

Wehave the exact same problem. Any idea what it is yet? How did the bleaching go for you? Did the problem come back for you yet? I would love to see some of our experts on this forum post ideas/thoughts about this same issue.
As for what we have done so far to try to solve this problem...We have been trying by cleaning the entire reservoir with h202 and water including spraying h202 directly onto the air stone trying to kill the slime. Make sure you check your filters on your water pumps because we found massive amounts of the slime growing inside that filter. We soaked the filter in h202 & water and then soaked the filter in bleach. Slowly it seems our air stone is starting to have slime buildup again :( We have also been keeping our tank chilled by adding 2literbottles of frozen water daily and keep our reservoir covered. We are also treating the reservoir with 35% h202 at 1.5ml per L every 2-3 days.
Also noticed that as the slime starts to show the PH is slowing drifting up.

Hey guys! When I was doing water culture hydro I had the same problems. It is not algae, it is the start of Pythium or root rot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythium I do hempy now but still have been researching. It seems that air stones are about the worst thing to use. You can achieve much more DO (Dissolved Oxygen) levels by using a water pump in the res to move the water around. The water only transfers oxygen at its surface. This is probably the reason that SWC (Shallow Water Culture) is successful. I think if I were to try it again I would use some submersible pumps to move the water around and then maybe pipe some fresh air into the root area.
Temperature has a lot to do with the appearance of pyth. Hygrozyme is a good preventive, as a cure it can take a while (weeks) to work. It is much better to just always use it in your res. I was unsuccessful at fighting it using the methods that I was. The slime kept reappearing on my airstones no matter what. Even new air stones didnt help. Thats my 2cents. :)

BTW, the clear snot/slime looking stuff will eventually go brown and smell nasty.
