alcohol to kill pests?

what happens if you put alcohol in/on the soil to kill pests? will it evaporate before it hurts the plant? will it hurt the plant? (not beer, rubbing alcohol)

I poured a little of the wintergreen rubbing alcohol in to kill the gnat larvae. Don't know if I am to expect the plants to die or not...

well we'll call it an experiment. I can see in the run off the larvae are floating dead and dead on the top of the soil.. Now just waiting to see if the plants are affected. They are 3 superskunk that are approx 1 month old, 2 weeks veg, 2 weeks flower in 18 oz plastic ups. They have already shown signs of female. Just waiting to see if alcohol killed them or not.

So they were looking just fine last night when i tucked them into bed. This morning however the leaves are droopy, soft and pliable and they all are limp and unhappy.

I proceeded to flush there little cups of soil thoroughly with fresh running tap water, then i gave them each just a hint of liquid fertilizer. Now waiting to see what happens.

Lol, looks like we can say 2 out of 3 died. But the bugs are dead too!

One plant lives on! We can call this, "The strong one."

LMAO no, no, no. I started a bunch of seeds, not sure how soon to start for a perpetual, so they were sorta extra.

I just knew that in 10-14 days when those gnat larvae would hatch my pretty plants sticky icky would be covered with wings and bugs, and I absolutely couldn't have that!

Whew.. scared me hehe. Next time just get some neem oil to kill them buggers and then cover your soil with 1-2 inches of fine sand so they cant lay eggs in your dirt.
