I agree a ton on the sterile Rez environment. I keep my temps in the mid to upper 60s and my canopy in mid 70s.
Have had a clean, slime /algea free Rez for over a month now.
So I'm about to start topping up with my boom nutrients i suppose. My ph has slowly crept up to 6.05

DUDE!!! that post was the freakin bees knees. Just got my girls switched over to flower today. Pics soon :D
Glad I could help. :)
Difficult to find that information these days. I think the DEA disinformationists have been very successful in mucking up hydro info for folks.

As for a sterile res? Unless you have a known, low-level, issue from your local tap water, I really don't see why. I'll take a photo here in a bit of one of my veg buckets, been running probably 4 or 5 months now? You'll see how clean it is and why I prefer straight r/o to allow it to happen. I won't run longer than 3 months in flower on the same res, veg is much less picky. :)

I've done a full flower run since this clone went in the bucket at the very least 4 months ago, closer to 6.

I have never dumped the reservoir. You can see the results are great with nice clean roots, very clean and clear water. No chlorine/amine, no h2o2 or other 'agent's to keep it clean. Just nutes, r/o and pH up. (Edit: I even had higher temps with a fan failure and some root rot a few months ago, the res is still clean.)

Gotta Love it :D (lazy man)

Love it. Search function. Gotta remember that one. Yeah, this house is 3600 sq' and they had 2 - 2.5 ton systems. Due east and west exposure, Central California where it his 110+. Electric bills in the $600's. Our summers are 6 and 7 months.
same area same heat related problems the heat here comes with a lot higher humidity I used to live on the edge of the delta now I'm in the gold country where in winter I have a fireplace insert & heat with wood which is very economical as my insert is one of those epa rated units that squeezes every bit of heat out of the wood giving me utility bills around $50.00 @ 1400 sq. ft home but when it gets hot we have central air but our house is small enough I only have to run it in the peak heat hours my daughter has a large home & 2 units July had an $800.00 power bill

20160828_074538.jpg added in a gallon and a half of RO with bloom nutes (AN connoisseur a&b)
Got ph set down to 5.5 or so, still pretty slow with the preflowers showing themselves :wall:

Going to go for a gradual shift of adding bloom nutes when topping up, so by about 2 weeks in I should be mostly bloom nutes. So my npk of the an connoisseur are 1-5-6 and 4-0-4 meaning the npk is 5-5-10 or 1-1-2. Does that sound right to anyone? Am I going to suffer without adding supplements to this stuff?

I'm fairly certain I just found my first female! The tall saliva in the back middle is the one. Ph at 5.8 ppm at 350

Cannabis grows awesomely tasty and potent cannabis, with just npk and micros. You don't need 'supplements' for a good grow.
What you need is a balanced nutrient profiile. This is a good article on what you're looking for, roughly. Your goal is to figure out how to mix a balanced nutrient profile with YOUR specific nutrients, and there's a calculator at the bottom of the page for it.

The closer you get to the correct balance for your strain, the stronger you can make the nutrient solution without overfeeding. :)

Update from last night :
Ppm dropping and ph rising, so it looks like they are hungry.
Didn't plan on using my screen this grow, but one or two of these are just stretching like crazy. Especially the back center. 20160902_083536.jpg 20160901_082141.jpg

This is the old-school info I learned 15 years ago. I've noticed proper res management for dwc is a rarity to see these days. Very glad to find a receptive audience. You'll really appreciate it. ;)

What's happening guys, how was the long weekend for yall?
So I've chopped 3 males down so far. But all is not lost, because the monster stretcher in the back is throwing off hairs everywhere! The other 2 are still being a little shy showing their lady bits. :???:
Got the ph sitting in the 5.8-6.0 neighborhood with ppm around 350, but increased to 400 with tonight's top up.
The tallest is about 2 feet tall if it weren't screened down
